Awesome, thanks Scoo.
Don't miss the fascinating photo gallery that shows some of the behind-the-scenes technical aspects of how this was put together. posted by madamjujujive at 10:05 AM on May 30, 2005
This parade is part of the year of Jules Verne celebrations. You can find a calendar of events here.
Royal de Lux is the name of the artists/company that put this together. Here are some photos of them from 2000, for example, and their giant giraffe. posted by vacapinta at 10:11 AM on May 30, 2005
I'd never seen anything like it before, but sure hope to see more. posted by stbalbach at 11:16 AM on May 30, 2005
Royal de Lux are awesome, I saw one of their shows back in the 80s - they performed in a huge car park behind a football stadium. Thirty, forty, maybe more, performers staging the French Revolution. The night before some of them were arrested in town (Utrecht, The Netherlands) for drunken behaviour and stealing bikes, I believe.
Thanks for the links, it's good to know they're still around. posted by prolific at 11:19 AM on May 30, 2005
