I like my Dutch series a lot, but do you really think there's an audience for small snippets from Dutch TV from waaaay back ? On the other hand, if you have a complete series of "De Zevensprong", I'd be very interested...

Most video clips seem to be from wayy before my time. Some of the tunes, however, are lifted straight from my youth.

The Daily Fable (mp3)

Hello Mr. Owl, where will you take us - to the Land of Fables?
Eh, yeah, to the Land of Fables.
And will you then read to us from the Daily Fable?
Yeah, the Daily Fable. In which you can read just how the animals are doing.
Really?
Really.
Really, Mr. Owl?
Hmm-mm. Because animals are just like humans. With the same human wishes. And the same human antics. All of this gets printed in the paper of the Land of Fables.

BTW onkelchrispy, a 'holland' and/or 'netherlands' tag would be nice. Thanks for posting this, I had never seen it before.

Also, I vaguely remember drunkenly singing this with a couple of equally intoxicated Swedes, in two different languages at the same time. Another reason to vote in favour of the EU constitution. Or not. Someone had to spoil the fun and bring that up, I guess.

Did USians get TV Pippi at all? Wikipedia only mentions a couple of films for US distribution.

Tnx amberglow, I knew you'd be in here.

Stateside readers, I would really appreciate it if you would play these as loud as possible at your place of work tomorrow and coax your co-workers into an attempt to sing along. Please report back with results, preferably with audio and/or video footage. Thanks.

Cool. I lived in Holland for a few years, as a child at the end of the '70s and early '80's. My main memory of Dutch television is, for some bizarre reason, the comedian Andre Van Duin. To this day, whenever I encounter somebody from Holland, I mystify them by telling them, in their native language, that there's a horse in the corridor.

Then I follow up with a boom-boom.
