I saw this the other day but I couldn't figure out if they offer any of these fonts for download. Is it just five designers uploading photos of their font sketches?

Good idea, but the designs are too samey and have all been seen before. They could have just set up a blog where they post good fonts everyday.

that hamburon one is nice--a download or fontographer version would be good. they just look like sketches for possible fonts. (or, what mathowie said)

As an amateur type designer myself, mathowie, seeing the process and the sketches is sometimes more rewarding for me than the final product.

I didn't feel the designs were too samey - that's interesting that you thought that, fire&wings. Do you mean the type designs or how those type designs were integrated into images (which I found to be the more interesting component). It had a nice seventies feel to it (the UFIA had a touch of Matthew Ritchie). It reminded me of some of the designs in my Print case books from the seventies... As for the UFIA - I am kinda freaked out that Fark warrants words in a dictionary, no matter how unofficial that dictionary may be.

These are interesting. I kind of like this one. This post makes me feel a little less weird than I usually do after the looks I get, as I draw the alphabet in various ways in my notebook.

Wow. A lot of good stuff here. It's always cool to look under the hood and see a designer's process. I agree, sometimes sketches are far more intriguing then the refined product.
