It's appalling! - and watching sports on TV will eat your brain. Gilbert & George on hoodies, chichimen and pubic lice. You'll have to do your own links, I gotta go.

My former university was at the bottom of Brick Lane and we art students all knew at which door Gilbert & George lived. We did a group project during the first year that basically meant everyone getting very drunk very quickly and recording it on video. Also I was dressed up as Gilbert. I had brought my bedroom bin along incase it was needed and it ended up being used by a couple of people for urinating (we were supposedly 'locked' in the room) and collecting one persons vomit. The project ends, everybody leaves, and I drunkenly decide to take the bucket back home to Bethnal Green. Walking halfway up Brick Lane it starts to rain very heavily, just as I near their house. So I decide it is their duty to let me in from the weather and I knock on their door. Gilbert put his head through the window but couldn't understand my mumbling so came to the door. I was still holding the bucket. Asked him to let me out of the rain, he kept saying they were busy today so be quick. He actually let me in to the first room in the house and showed me working photographs for a project about rentboys. Before too long the rain stopped and I left. That evening I went off to join friends doing a Circle Line pub crawl but lets end the story here.

So that was the day I met Gilbert.

Sorry, I just like any opportunity to tell that story.

"A fascinating garment, yes?" George remarks of the hooded top. "The only garment, we feel, which combines the qualities of the foreskin and the condom in one piece ... There's no reason for honkies to do honky art."

i'm so glad they're still poking. : >
