but fine films they are - poetic like so criminally few filmmakers are brave enough to be. a big influence in my own filmmaking.

An intersting aside: Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome starred one Marjorie Cameron, the elemental spirit that Jet Propultion Lab pioneer Jack Parsons believes he raised in a magical working designed to manifest The Whore of Babylon. Madness and genuis run hand in hand across the lansdscape of modern science.

Re: Cameron: that's incredible. Sometimes it seems like there were only about a thousand people living in the United States before the sixties. The same names come up over and over again.

It seems to be down for the summer, but Ubu web, www.ubu.com, has/had a good deal of Anger's stuff available for download without registration (I assume it's legal--it's very well curated). awesome post, thanks!

This may be a little obvious from LeeJay's second post here, but Marjorie Cameron was also in a film called "Night Tide" (starring a very young Dennis Hopper) that is well worth seeing if you ever get the chance. Similar in feel to "Carnival of Souls", it's a rather surreal B&W love story in which Hopper's character falls for a girl who may or may not be a mermaid. Cameron's character is a mysterious woman who speaks in a strange language and generally looks very beautiful and creepy.
