the Frieda Kahlos are just... wrong.

the Stan Smiths on the other hand, rock -- so old skool. I have owned several pairs in the course of my sad, brand-obsessed life.

Wow. They really like sneakers.

I pretty much just buy shoes when the old ones are worn out.

My favorites are still the Jack Purcells... I still have a few pairs today... it's like walking around barefoot (but in a good way)

I can see where they are coming from, myself having the tennis shoe fetish. I love sneakers/tennis/basketball shoes. Maybe it came from being an ex-jock, but I couldn't help myself. I used to buy 4 -5 pair a year at 100 - 150 each, if I needed them or not. I've managed to break myself of that habit (Maybe 1 pair a year now), but I still have to watch myself when something new catches my eye. I love the old school shoes, early 80's Nike Air Force Ones and the 70's Addidas Superstars being paticular favorites.

In a related note, ESPN.com is runnning their Ultimate Sneaker Bracket, where you can vote on your all time favorite athletic shoes.

Nike sucks. They may be good for sports but their spin on urban style is like Pontiac's version of a sports car. Almost all their styles lack any sort of personality. Having said that, the Amsterdam nikes featured in the above link are a solid counter example.

I'm not really a shoe person besides running. Colorful Old Navy flip flops, or thongs, as some people say, for $3.50. Now that's sweet.
