Tom Cruise Kills Oprah Quick and silly. [mov file]
posted by zardoz (37 comments total)

Redeeming Value: now when I post stuff all I have to ask is, "is this better than a mov file of tom cruise killing oprah?"

I should be able to post just about anything I want with such strict guidelines.

Is this the "Nooooooooooooooo!" guy? If so, he's really racking up the MeFi links.
posted by digaman at 6:33 PM on June 27, 2005

Eh, maybe the "Noooooooooo!" guy stole the idea. Never mind, sorry.

this is farking ridiculous.

Yet still funny.

can someone please tell me the original context of that video?

Star wars effects or not, that looked highly fucked up.

What in the good name of holy iguana was he doing?

I totally haven't seen this already in a million other places.

interrobang : "I totally haven't seen this already in a million other places."

I totally haven't seen this already in a million other places either.

But somehow I suspect my "totally haven't" is very different from interrobang's "totally haven't".

Despite the creepy look on that crazy Scientologist's face, I think it's the media who's lost it with all the attention he's been getting, it's not like he got drunk and urinated in a salad bar.

meanwhile, there's talk they may marry on Letterman, like Tiny Tim did on Carson.
posted by amberglow at 7:27 PM on June 27, 2005

Tom and Oprah are getting married?
posted by greasepig at 7:39 PM on June 27, 2005

No, silly--Tom and Dakota Fanning ; >

can someone please tell me the original context of that video?

Tom Cruise is jumping up and down on Oprah's stage (and shortly hereafter, her couch,) professing his love for Katie Holmes. I can't find the video clip, but The Defamer screencapped it.

I knew the snarkers would come out and bitch about this, but I posted it anyway because it is really short and shouldn't have wasted too much of your precious Interweb time. And btw doli, item, you do realize that to snark me took more time (I'm guestimating here) than to suffer through the original link?

Or do you think I'm despoiling the sacred halls of MeFi with crap? It is kinda crap but it still made me laugh. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.

That is all.

Jesus, Scientology ... "we've got the answer to life's problems and mysteries. Pay us $25,000, and we'll tell you."

I just can't get behind a "belief system" like that.

Please accept one happy fluffy explanation of where it came from.

Mocking Tom Cruise and killing Oprah: what more could you want?
posted by Lionfire at 7:59 PM on June 27, 2005

Relay: You're obviously not aware that the best things in life aren't free, and that if someone is prepared to just give you something for free, it clearly must be worthless.

You're the kind of person who knows the price of everything and value of nothing, despite it being so simple - the price IS the value :-)

In light of recent events with Queen Oprah, I enjoyed this. Thanks Zardoz.

How much is that Total Enlightenment anyway? Can I put it on my credit card and pay it off in installments?
posted by fenriq at 8:32 PM on June 27, 2005

why yes, with Scientology you can!

I've been enjoying this clip, if only for the long drawn out "unlimited power!" quote of Palpatine from Episode 3. One of many lines which made me laugh, and thank the gods it was the final episode. It's been on my desktop, ready to make me smile at a double-click's notice.

I guess I missed the one million other posts because it was new to me too.

If you can't have a little fun with mefi, what's the point? Jeez.

Thanks Zardoz - very funny.

Posts like this aren't the reason I come to metafilter.

That is all.

Zardoz has spoken!

(I laughed. Thanks, Zardoz.)

TVNewser: As Tom Cruise got all shook up with Matt Lauer on Thursday, the movie star's publicists kicked into high gear, TVNewser hears. They lit into senior entertainment producer Tim Bruno, demanding that 'Today' only air portions of the interview that related to War of the Worlds. Then the handlers threatened to pull all future star bookings from the top-rated morning show. ...
posted by amberglow at 7:10 AM on June 28, 2005

That was TOTALLY fake. I heard Tom yell at a guy, and he doesn't sound anything like that. Plus the music was OBVIOUSLY dubbed.
posted by GernBlandston at 9:30 AM on June 28, 2005

Yes, this is a little light and obvious and (in Internet time) old for an FPP, and I think it works much better as a soundless gif, without the totally unnecessary title. The gif was at Jinxed Media last week, but they appear to have taken it down. I didn't save it. I blew it.

For what it's worth, zardoz, your namesake RULES!

Yes. One comes from the Planet Irony. But which?

So, why is metafilter so damned slow? We always get the coolest memes, but it doesn't seem like we get them fresh...
