ROCKET FUEL FOR WINNERS

She was, after all, a girl you could take anywhere. One minute she could be the slinkiest cat on the hot tin roof, wrapping her dancer’s body... around a client’s body in a hotel elevator. Then, when the door slid open, she’d look classic, like a wife even, on the arm of a Wall Street CEO or Asian electronics magnate.

Last week, she was busted.

I'd heard about her, but I still wonder what makes a girl worth 2k/hr. I'm not the kind who pays for sex (except maybe dinner and a movie) but that price tag is just absurd. If you need an orgasm, some time alone in the bathroom is good enough. If you need a girl specifically, it ought to be for more than just the flesh.

mystyk- I think part of it came from her escort abilities. You know, eye candy at a classy restaurant, conversation at a swanky art gallery. Kind of like the traditional geisha girls.

mystyk, I know what you mean. But back around when Hugh Grant got busted, I remember reading a story about Hollywood stars resorting to call girls, and in particular a telling remark from Billy Idol: "I don't pay them for sex. I pay them to leave."

Bleh. This whole story just pisses me off. Clearly some pimps are bad for their girls, but does anyone believe that the guy who ran this operation was really exploiting women? Where's the harm?

And of course they froze all his bank accounts so that he can't even pay his own bail, and thus rots in jail.

And what could possibly be the benefit of arresting this woman? Someone making $2000/hr is not going to be spreading diseases, and if she was exploited would throwing her in jail make her less "oppressed".

I can't understand who these people are supposed to be hurting.

I'd heard about her, but I still wonder what makes a girl worth 2k/hr. I'm not the kind who pays for sex (except maybe dinner and a movie) but that price tag is just absurd.

With a girl like her, I'm pretty sure they're paying for the companionship, not just the sex. I would imagine that someone like her (an actress) would be able to make a client feel like they were having sex with someone who really loved them, or whatever it is they wanted.

Well part of it (at least for the pimp) was PR. Like any business, the more press the more business.

He actually tried to hire Lizzy Grubman at one point.

Yep, you need to read the whole article. They're paying for GFE: the "girl-friend experience."

Several mentioned that they were proud to give the girl they were with an orgasm; I thought it funny they wouldn't think a hooker would fake it.

Well, she never faked it with me. I would know if she had.

Heh, I always found that screamingly funny. There was some UK rating site I perused a while back, basically listing reviews of working girls in and around London. I remember reading a bunch of reviews where the guys were all like "I know she came-- there are just some things a woman cannot fake". Uh, guys? That is her job. And apparently she is very good at it.

This is not to say prostitutes do not sometimes enjoy themselves, but really.
posted by oflinkey at 2:01 PM on August 4, 2005

Here is a funny idea: legalize prostitution but have the license report how easy it is to make her cum (as determined by objective medial procedures, which exist BTW).

I've known women who were just geniuses with the guys heads (although not necessarily with other parts). Those top male hostes in Japan are perhaps similar. Either that or marketing is what would make real money.

I can really define the 2k reason, not for average joes like you and me. Can you imagine being a quarterback, CEO, celebrity and just wanting a little action? Nearly impossible. Getting hookers off the street is dangerous physically and to your reputation (see above).

Also if you're an actress, as Gawker.com points out, don't use your ho name so close to your real name (it's what Misty is for). Feed the Herd Theatre Company

I'd heard about her, but I still wonder what makes a girl worth 2k/hr.

In 2004, Natalia recorded an unprecedented seventeen straight 10/10s. On the TER ratings scale, a 10 was defined as “one in a lifetime.” Natalia was the Perfect 10, the queen of the escort world.

Those ratings were bought and paid for, so she became the "top rated" girl in New York.

And the "per hour" is exaggerated, she was more of the 10 hour coke binge companion.

"I don't pay them for sex. I pay them to leave."

For reference sake, Billy Idol did not come up with this. I've read it in, I believe, Mamet, and Roth (as early as Professor of Desire and late as Human Stain: "the whores' great wisdom: 'Men don't pay you to sleep with them. They pay you to go home.'").

I assume it's a rather ancient adage.

Note to self: when earning a living committing a criminal act, do not brag about it on television.

I have always wondered why all the police don't just wait outside the Springer studio and pop the child abusing, meth-dealing, brother-fucking whores as they stumble out the door into the harsh Chi town sun. I'm thinking a cop could build a good career scooping these people up, hell, they just confessed on national television. Sounds like a lock to me.

Second note to self: after being busted for ignoring note #1, cop to something foolish and write the book while on house arrest.

No, that doesn't make logical sense - the clients are far more culpible in hurting their wives than a 3rd party who the client doesn't even inform about his/her marriage, yet the hammer comes down on the more innocent party and completely ignores the perpetrator.

I'm thinking it's just unthinking puritanism making the world a worse place. I can't understand who these people are supposed to be hurting.

This reminds me of an Onion acticle, headlined something like:
Woman arrested in sex-for-money scandal
And goes on with shocking details about how a women was caught living in a home payed for by a man she had sex with, who also lived there, and bought her clothes, gave her money etc. The neighbours were shocked - she had always seemed like a normal housewife. (Which was the point - she was a normal housewife and her husband was the breadwinner of the two. Scandalous! :-)

Actually, the idea of being with someone who's job it is to manipulate your emotions without you being aware is what creeps me out - I tend to get distrustful of people when they have a motive to not be genuine and I have no way of telling whether they're being genuine or not.

You're not aware of it because you don't know where she's really at. Say she compliments you on something, WTF do you do with that - assume she's lying? Maybe she isn't. Maybe it's somewhere in between. You just wouldn't know. Anything they say could be honest or it could be the job talking. For many people, that's ok - they'll just assume it's the job talking and be ok with that, but I feely really uncomfortable forcing myself to be suspicious of everything someone says. Suspicious just isn't fun.

While I do support legalized, regulated prostitution, I find the fact that this article idolizes a prostitute to be kind of repulsive. Just because prostitution should be legal doesn't make it a glamorous profession that everyone should want to be in.

And just to be catty, is this girl supposed to be extremely attractive or just extremely attractive for a hooker? 'Cause she's about as pretty as half the girls I know (not an insult).

Nordic Courtesan. 7 days, $20k. (and she's doing DUOS with Angel in Vancouver this week...) /fark

Money exchanged is exclusively for time and companionship. Anything else that may or may not happen is a matter of personal choice and personal preference between two consenting adults of legal age and is not contracted for, nor is it requested to be contracted for, or compensated for in any manner whatsoever.

They must mean attractive as a hooker; if that photo is a true representative of what she looks like, she's just this side of coyote ugly. No curves whatsoever and a man-face.

jeffburdges: There was a documentary on one of the public stations a few months ago where the producer interviewed escorts. Every one of them said that they felt nothing at all when they were with johns. Sex for pay was no more sexualy arousing to them than cleaning the toilet. It was a job, pure and simple, and faking it was part of the package.

But she's working out of New York. If she had any more curves, people would think she's a lard arse-- not a supermodel, which presumably is how she markets herself.

Ultimately though, sexual attraction is less about looks and more about charisma and ability to flirt appropriately. As long as her features are reasonably symmetrical (and they appear so to me), I'm guessing that the personality and marketing are what brings in the bucks.
