This was fun when it made its first circulation around the internets about a month ago.

The guy with the "Sweet Boner" comment totally nailed it.

Oh pay the naysayers no never mind srboisvent. I didn't read any of the other ones and would have never seen them if you hadn't posted it here.

Oh I do pay no mind to the nattering nayboobs and the people who comment on it coming from some site (yayhooray - never even heard of it?!?!?).

But I did try and search for this before posting. Doubles are like being caught flying low.

Doubles just move topics from the recycle bin of the mind to the my documents folder.

seems like a lot of comments were deleted from this thread -- what was the gist of the deleted comments? why was the deletion necessary? anyone?

comment count goes like this: 100595, 96, 103, 108, 109, 113, 114, 116, 128

seriously, what were people saying that necessitated such a response? or am i incorrect about the number of comments deleted?

it's just cats, people.
posted by Hat Maui at 3:22 PM on August 6, 2005

well, partial nevermind. i thought the comment numbers were in exact numerical order. it seems they are not.

It's a conspiracy among matthowie, jess, and all the dog owners, HM to surpress us cat lovers. You just watch, none of them will even post a comment in this and if they do, it will be to throw us off the scent. They are crafty, oh yes they are.

And if this post gets deleted...oh man. Long swords and catnip shall be brandished.

Hat Maui: My understanding is that comment numbers are chronological for the entire blue site, so any comments on other threads will impact this thread's numbering.

DeepFriedTwinkies: I'm fairly sure mathowie likes cats.

srboisvert: The fact that the site was linked in a comment and not a front page post I believe makes searches more difficult. It's not truly a double post, since it wasn't previously a FPP, and I think it might be a little much to expect you to go through EVERY cat thread to see if it was linked to...

My wife and I both enjoyed the pics, so thank you.

I would have prefered that they be flying monkeys. Too many damn cats on the Web anyway.

Every time I see this set of photos I wish my cats were that active. Like me, my cats have a "oh, fuck it" attitude when it comes to doing anything active.

The cats really do look like they're enjoying themselves.

My smaller cat claps. She was chasing a bug around the living room one day and she leaped up into the air to catch it, snapped her paws together and 'clap!'.

It sounded like clapping with mittens on (^_^)

She also balances on her hind legs like a meercat to investigate sounds or things out of sight.

I feel so damn hip! Or something. I actually blogged the Flickr photo-set of these cats before it made it to MeFi!

Go look at the Flickr set fatllama linked to, though, as it's much fuller than the one linked to in the FPP. The photographer is good, his cats are cute, and his house is immaculate.

My cat barely stands up when he eats; there will be no acrobatics like this for the camera, sadly.

I love how the darker cat is all "yah, whatever, what a loser" in the fourth picture, but (probably a few seconds later) is very much into attacking that a piece of fluff with all the serious attitude it can muster.

I wonder if injecting the RNA from a cat into every living cell of my body would produce some sort of cancer and kill me, or if it would transform me into a super cat-like being?
posted by Balisong at 6:19 PM on August 6, 2005

Yeah, the older black one just sits there and smiles his kitty smile when she goes through her antics.
The other day they were running through the yard and she will usually leap over him in passing, this time she ran *under* him. Really pissed him off (^_^) (she's about half his size full grown)
posted by mk1gti at 6:25 PM on August 6, 2005

Balisong, I've seen that and it ain't pretty. You don't get either. All you get is a person with two constant, overpowering urges: to lick himself all over and to show his anus to people.
posted by ROU_Xenophobe at 6:56 PM on August 6, 2005

Well, that would work, too.
posted by Balisong at 6:58 PM on August 6, 2005

I imagine that the urge without the ability would be horrid, don't you think?

On second thought, I *know* it is.

I also once asked my dentist if I could replace my lower jaw, and modify my upper jaw, to be more like a large cat or dog.

He said he wouldn't recommend it.

There's also the problem with spraying to mark your territory. Doesn't go over to well with the co-workers or neighbors. Or for that matter at the local restaurant. . .
posted by mk1gti at 8:13 PM on August 6, 2005

And if you've got housemates instead of neighbors, well forget it.
posted by mk1gti at 8:14 PM on August 6, 2005

Balisong: If you do that, I assume you'd end up looking something like Jocelyne Wildenstein, of which there is a perhaps better photo here, on the very appropriate for her awfulplasticsurgery.com site.

In conclusion, I agree with your dentist.

Ok. Stop feeding your cats too much kittie crack. They'll stay on the ground more.
