In a world...

In a world... where the success of an industry depends upon the creative ability of a few, greatness must be recognized. Imagine... five of the top voice-over artists in our country all in one car! Dan LaFontaine's car!

Cool, will have to keep an ear open now during commercials and trailers to see who is who.

Okay, that was kinda awesome.

Could they not find Donald Sutherland's or James Earl Jones' house?
posted by krunk at 2:19 PM on August 7, 2005

Yup, they're the v/o gods. Mere voiceover peasants like myself can only hope to do a film trailer someday.... alas. Viva Sutherland!
Kinda freaky that you posted this today too, as I'm working on a demo to send out to some big scary v/o agencies.

That was great, Robot Johnny, thanks!

Best of luck to you, moonbird!!

Awesome. I liked the little gag at the end with the driver scooping up a fortune in "loose change" that the v.o. guys left behind. With so much work given to the same five guys, I wonder if they really are fantastically wealthy.

What strikes me is how old most of these guys are. What's going to happen when they stop?

moonbird, just on your message in thread alone, I'd say you're a natural. Best of luck.
(Did you do that "Kinda freaky..." small text on helium? Awesome!)

There will be a moment of silence observed at all theaters (during the previews).

That was truly awesome.

It must be a trip, going through life with that kind of voice talent. Going to the grocery store: "And now, the classic duo, together again for a mind-blowing encore presentation: MACARONI AND CHEESE."

And oops -- I just realized it's Don, not Dan.

Great link! This could've been crap, but it managed to surmount the peaks of mediocrity to be truly cool.

average freelance VO talent in hollywood make around $500/hr, so those guys... if they dont have contracts with the studios are making megabucks.

but as you can see from this, they deserve it because theyve established a style that tells you "yes, im at the movies, this is real."

with that said, i would have edited out about 90 seconds of it.

That was great. It's a shame they didn't include Hal Douglas too. (featured in the requested Comedian trailer)

I read an interview... shit, I can't remember where ... with ... damn, can't remember who... but I DO remember he was one of the top men at this job and that he made $600k a year.

I agree, that was awesome.

Hal Douglas is the one who calls the carphone...

I especially loved how the movie was "scored" with nothing but the music clips you hear over and over and over in trailers as well.

Great touch.

  1. This just doesn't get old!
  2. The voiceover monopoly in Hollywood is mind-boggling.
