ISSNs for your blog? Joe Clark looks at the process, and urges authors to sign up, which puts your blog officially in the worldwide standardized encyclopedia of periodicals. It sounds like a good idea, and could help people using the periodical databases for research, since many blogs cover the same things magazines do.

I love it. What's wrong with capricious clutter anyway? I signed up. At least I think I signed up...... These folks could use some help with thier online forms.

I signed up, as well -- way I see it, it can't hurt, and it comes closer to legitimizing the pathetic amount of time I spend putzing with my site.

Dutch Royal Library doesn't offer on line forms at all. I have to write a 'letter'. Knowing Dutch bureaucracy, they'll then send me 50 incomprehensible forms to fill in. And then deny me my right to an ISSN giving no clear reason.

I signed up, and it look less than twenty minutes to get the ISSN, after the online application was submitted. Not bad at all for Canadian bureaucracy.

I signed up too. This is great. You know, back in my collegiate days, I was on the debate team. It was always a big joke about how when we graduated we'd write books or editorials and put into them the evidence we wanted against specific cases but never could find. Stuff like "If we intervene in Bosnia it will lead to nuclear war." When I get my ISSN I'll start posting rants about foreign policy with ridiculous statements like that for the crop of debaters looking for them. How wonderful.
