Redeeming States, One at a Time

Christian Exodus: A secular state simply doesn't do it for some. The last decade has seen the birth of many new sovereign states the world over. Is Utah South Carolina going to be next? Or perhaps New Hampshire? Apparently you won't see the message on Google.

Yes, please go, then we pagan homosexuals can fulfill our master plan of turning our states into New Sodoms! Hooray!

Oh please. I'm about as sick of the whole "We Christians are under attack in this here country" schtick as I can get. The only thing better is hearing about it on Christmas, when we all have the day off. Tools.

the discredited theory of Darwinian evolution

At least they are teaching that damned string theory anymore.

Christians have been bemoaning prosecution since Nero. It's their angle. This will never happen as states cannot simply leave the union (see: Civil War).

Why don't Christians go to Italy where something like 90% of the population is Christian -- oh Catholics aren't Christian you say? Right...

It's funny North America was a place people went to escape religious persecution, and now they're complaining that no persecution isn't good enough -- there should be state religion. If only these crazies would believe in atheistic reading and look at all the failed religious states.

The revolution will not be googleized.

I'll go roll my eyes now. Yes, the poor, persecuted Christians. Remember a few years ago when a boy was tied to a fence and beaten to death, for daring to be a Christian in public? (Oh, wait...)

kalimac: What about that guy in East Texas who was drug behind a car until dead because he was a Christian...oh wait...

Or perhaps the profiling that results in Christians being pulled over by the police more frequently...um...

What about workplace discrimination? You know, Christians make far less than non-Christians doing the same jobs...um...

Ok, perhaps Christians aren't so much persecuted after all...

The 51st state thing has been tried before. I seem to remember reading about an attempt to make a state called Lincoln long ago, but can't seem to find any info on that.

I wanna live in the new republic of Pastafarianism where there's lots of sacrilicious spaghetti and the Holy Week runs from Talk Like a Pirate day to the celebration of the Flying Spaghetti Monster day.
Can we annex Key West maybe?
Who's with me?
Bring more chianti.

What about that negro in Port Aransas who was robbed by some white lemonade stand kid?

Or perhaps the astronaut that can't find any work now that he's back home? Does that ring any bells?

And oh yeah, what about that guy that froze to death during the Iditarod?

FUCK PERSECUTION!

I'm a Brit living in Anderson, SC (about 30 miles from Greenville where their conference will be). I've not become a citizen but might just become one just to cancel out the vote of one this nutjobs...

Although on second thought, I'm not sure you'd notice much of a difference in the political landscape here if these people are successful. Talk about sending coals to Newcastle...

Christians don't get along well with other Christians. Open a phone book and take a look- most cities have dozens of different denominations and splinter groups.

Their utopia is never going to last.

Good riddance to worthless throwback morons. Bit tough on SC, I suppose, but I can't help liking the idea of all the most infected vermin congregating in one place rather than polluting the whole country. And with any luck the presence of so many drooling knuckledraggers in SC will cause a backlash there too. Stupidity gets even more annoying in high concentrations.

Wasn't something like this tried before, only outside of the US?

Another outrage catalyst so we can vent. I fed on this the first time I saw it, but now I yawn. Wake me up when they build a wall and start burning witches.

File under U for Unfortunate the Libertarians' decision to call their gathering "Porc Fest 2005". I know its supposed to be short for Porcupine. I still disapprove.

Christians don't want to be free from persecution, they want to be free to persecute.

Just my opinion (and I was raised to be a nice episcopalian boy).
