Hannity calls Fred Phelps ultra-leftwing liberal

Hannity calls Fred Phelps ultra-leftwing liberal On today's Sean Hannity show, Hannity had a rip roaring rant over "protesters" showing up and protesting at a soldiers funeral in Martinsville, Indiana. He called these protesters the worst kind of "ultra left-wing liberal." With a little help from Google, I found exactly who he was calling liberal. Turns out, the liberal was none other than the GodHatesFags.com founder, Fred Phelps.
I really don't think Hannity was calling Phelps a liberal. He never named the protesters as he usually does with Sheehan or Code Pink, this protester was unnamed. He also never said what was on the protest signs. I think he was just only using half the story to brew up hate and anger at those of us who are supportive of the troops and against the war in Iraq. That kinda puts Hannity on Phelp's level - it is all about the hate.

Phelps has gone far off the deep end. It's becoming rapidly clear that he, or whoever is in charge of his organization, is mentally ill.

Hannity has always been a lying sack of shit. You should email MediaMatters about this...they're good at getting more info and video.

Hannity is a dipshit. Phelps is, well, insane. But the URL provided in the FPP doesn't link the two. Am I missing something?

Won't make a tiny fucking bit of difference. The people who listen to Hannity and eat his polished shit with a spoon will never come within a thousand miles of MediaMatters. Pissing in the wind, though it's worth documenting for posterity I suppose.

No, I think it's the FPP that's missing something. Like a point other than another excuse to trot out Fred Phelps.

I would enjoy watching Phelps eat Hannity's brain. You know he'd do it.

Hold on, let me see if I have this right: Phelps is anti-military, and drags the flag on the ground. Why? Just because he thinks "don't ask, don't tell" is too "permissive"? Has nobody told him about the Navy's witch hunts, for example?
Was this soldier whose funeral it was gay, or is it just any old opportunity for a protest? And did any fake zombies join Phelp's protest to go with the real ones in his cult?
I'd expect Phelps to be a right-wing fascist "patriot", so frankly this story is hilarious.
(But no, I don't think Phelps is any more of a leftist than Clinton.)

MAN. I knew the Phelps clan were borderline mentally ill, but it sounds like they're well past the borderline part now.
As for the post- we do need some sort of link to, or evidence of, Hannity's quote before this has legs.

davy, the soldiers whose funerals they're picketing aren't gay at all--it's all Phelps' insanity and hatefulness.

I think he is anti-military at the moment because he thinks that the tolerance of gays in the USA is why soldiers are dying in Iraq and thus, they deserve it.

Rothko : "I'd put Phelps slightly left-of-center of Satan and centrist with respect to Hitler."
I wasn't aware that Satan had a position on the "left-right" spectrum. After all, he supports drug use, prostitution, homosexuality, and the like (traditionally leftist), and also extreme capitalism, capital punishment, and the like (traditionally rightist). And then he proceeds to punish people who do those previously mentioned leftist things, and those previously mentioned rightist things.
I think it could safely be said that Satan, if anything, is an extremist political centrist.
