Why did you do this, P_G? Do you hate us all?

The warning was there.

Yeah, but it didn't say warning: breakdancing doctors and firemen.

How did he get his jacket back? He dropped it in the hospital... but LATER, when he's on the motorcycle, he's wearing it!?!?! wtf?

Pretty_Generic, you're doing a heck of a job

I'm pretty sure P_G hates life in general.

This is just proof of that theory.

I don't think anyone predicted that the levees would breakdance.
posted by Pretty_Generic at 7:35 PM on September 11, 2005

And I'd swear that most of them appeared to be doing a bastardized 'robot'. But the [kid/midget] was cool.

Dr. Beat....yeah right. The doctor isn't in. (and hasn't been for 20 years.)

Could've been a better mix, but I wholeheartedly approve of this.

This is currently #3 in the UK btw. The official singles chart no longer obeys the laws of physics.

What was that other thing that came along in the eighties?

Oh, Right. Crack.

Apple are releasing two special edition pink Mylo iPods which are themed around his album Destroy Rock & Roll. Apparently.

At about 30 seconds in I declared this the greatest post to mefi of all time. At 2 minutes I turned it off. What does that say about America???

I liked it. But I also like Stella, too.

Mylo is an amusing act. Definitely check out the other tracks on the album if you liked this track at all.

P_G I take this oppurtunity to refer you to a MeFi posting, "you are all diseased" it might help if you can diagnose which of the multitude of psychometric ailments might prompt this bit of "eighties"

It's an average, average bootleg. But I'll give it props for the fact that, despite having a breakdown which says, repeatedly and remarkably obviously, "motherfucker's gonna drop the pressure", it's been getting constant daytime play on national radio stations. Last time that happened was when Planet of Sound ("this ain't no fuckin' around") was playlisted on Radio 1.

I didn't know that Negativland lifted that vocal on the David Booie link. Who's Mylo? I'm so confused.

A lot can be done with that bass line after it's been stripped of all the 80s cliches.

Remix, anyone?

sort of unintentionally not funny.

Nah, the Super Furry Animals' "The Man Don't Give a Fuck" got accidental daytime play, and holds the record for "most sweary song played on Radio 1" with it's 140+ 'fucks'.

They will in 2 years time.

nah, we got Mylo months ago--we're on to The Go! Team now. : >

So, can I get any backstory her? Who's Mylo, and what's the MSM and Negativland connection?
posted by sourwookie at 6:50 AM on September 12, 2005

Negativland (scroll to bottom) say the sample comes from a religious flexi-disc they stole from a church. Although they also say it came from 1966, which is clearly false.
posted by Pretty_Generic at 7:40 AM on September 12, 2005

Negativland used the rant as a sample years ago, now Mylo's done it. Who knows, maybe Negativland created it and made up a backstory. Mylo's just some guy who made an album over a year ago that's still getting some play, it seems.

Mylo comes from Skye (an island on the northwest coast of Scotland) and is absolutely great live. But this song and mix have been around for at least a year and the spray painted

DEST
ROYR
ROCK
ROLL
was spotted around Glasgow for months before then.

This mix is ancient.

As for the Man Dont Give a Fuck by SFA. I bought the single at the time. It has great artwork and you can listen to a live version here

Warning Windows media player active x (or somesuch shite)
