Dang. My family had a copy of this LP. Wish I still did. All I remember is that it was major-league melodramatic narration, intercut with audio from NASA. Still, at age 8, I was pretty frickin impressed.

I've actually got that LP (Dad bought it new)...I was born in '72, so I missed getting to see the real deal by just a smidge ;), but I remember being captivated by listening to that album in the late 70's. Very cool.

I'm old enough that I remember my dad waking me and my brother in the middle of the night. He dragged us downstairs in our pajamas to watch it. At the time I thought, "What the heck?" The grainy black and white feed looked nothing like science fiction films. I think I was expecting a rocket ship or something. Now, I'm real glad that he did so.

I used to have this on vinyl. I think I got it for a quarter. Now I can integrate it into my MP3 collection for my annoying novelty ambient mixing needs. Woot.
