Remember, Switzerland is a poor country that has only recently had even one McDonald's. There the restaurants are not fast food but haute cuisine, and saying you just went to McDonald's is name-dropping.

Oh, gods... I used to live in a dorm that had a McFranchise on the ground floor. You could smell the stench of the vegetable oil they used in the frying vats all the way up on the second and third floors, where people had to live, sleep and study. Oh, and quite a few of the residents worked downstairs... couldn't get the smell of burgers and fries out of their clothes without lots of washing. Had to shower a lot too.
