Cool galleryof tiny, tiny people doing detailed farming work on pieces of fruit. Horrible flash interface, frequent use of French.

Couldn't find photos before annoyance level exceeded tolerable levels.
Pity ... would be interested in fruit farming. posted by metaculpa at 4:12 PM on September 20, 2005
Hmm. I could only find a few photos, and none of them dealt with fruit. It was cauliflower. posted by Specklet at 4:14 PM on September 20, 2005

Go to the dot @ bottom right to get the menu. I liked the interface. Makes me hungry. posted by weapons-grade pandemonium at 4:22 PM on September 20, 2005
It's worth drilling through the french insanity. Awesome concept. posted by selfnoise at 4:37 PM on September 20, 2005
There is a U.S. artist that does the same thing. Don't know which one came up with it first. The figures are from old model railroad sets. posted by Mid at 4:44 PM on September 20, 2005
Worth finding your way through, I reckon - there's some great looking stuff there. posted by The Monkey at 4:46 PM on September 20, 2005
Y'all are so hardcore. It was such *springy* nav---I found quite cheerful. Yeah, a wee bit challenging, but does everything have to be easy all time? posted by DenOfSizer at 5:52 PM on September 20, 2005
Wow, that was out of this world. posted by leapingsheep at 6:03 PM on September 20, 2005
Fantastic photos. Bad interface. Agreed.
On the other hand, maybe I'm too sensitive, but I think that a French website being in French doesn't actually constitute a usability issue. posted by guidonDeBascogne at 6:10 PM on September 20, 2005
It reminds me of those black and white photos of the mini people on the NSFW nudes. posted by arcticwoman at 7:03 PM on September 20, 2005
These photos are great! The interface is awful, yes, but I figured it out quickly enough. posted by rhapsodie at 7:35 PM on September 20, 2005
Yeah, that is great. Thanks, jonson. Well worth the time. I didn't mind the interface. posted by louigi at 7:50 PM on September 20, 2005

Finally got through all that crap navigation - and a browser reload - got to the goods.
Hit and miss, some are great (the lolita one was nice) and some are twee and really annoying.
There is a contemporary Japanese artist who used to do exactly this with these same figures and bonsai.
Damn, wish i had written down his name for comparisons sake . If anyone knows the Japanese photographer im talking about, let me know. posted by rawfishy at 9:05 PM on September 20, 2005

That's a really great site despite the poor interface. Very fun. I also liked Crash Bonsai, so thanks Marvin. posted by OmieWise at 5:40 AM on September 21, 2005

I don't know what you guys are complaining about, it took me like 15 seconds to figure out how to navigate through this.
Awesome photos. I liked the two-pane setup with the delay, so at first you weren't sure just what you were looking at. Very nice. posted by Who_Am_I at 6:26 AM on September 21, 2005
My only complaint is that there weren't more photos.

Yeah, anyone can build their own nation with model people, just visit your local model railroad shop.
It's a pity that the German Preiser factory does not have a workable web.
BUT, the catalogs of Preiser are beautiful in their own right, check them out here. posted by Laotic at 7:46 AM on September 21, 2005
Yeah, jesus, quit whining about the Flash. It was just a little clunky up front, but then very nice, smooth & elegant. And the photos are definitely worth it.
The people are evidently some of those sold for model railroad layouts - but a pretty damn small scale. "N" or "Z"? posted by soyjoy at 7:55 AM on September 21, 2005
I dig crash bonsai, but it wasnt the Japanese artist i was thinking of. He uses the same Preiser figures with bonsai in wacky situations. Still.... thanks Marvin! posted by rawfishy at 7:56 AM on September 21, 2005
Favs: people in spacesuites on top of a lovely burnt top of creme brulee, a pair of skaters on a shiny cake pan bottom. But why does the menu bounce so much? posted by of strange foe at 8:03 AM on September 21, 2005
the simple fact that people here can't link to their favorites is what's so annoying about the interface to me... posted by jonson at 11:54 AM on September 21, 2005
