hee hee hee! Though I do wonder holgate, why that website is using Disney illustrations when just about every Pooh enthusiast would prefer the drawings of E.H. Shepard? posted by Avogadro at 12:15 PM on November 29, 2000
That's a stunningly good parody. I could've been reading something straight from A. A. Milne.
Avogadro: the Disneified Pooh is much better known than the original illustrations. Probably easier to find pictures, too. And, finally, possibly even out of respect for the original art. :-) posted by cCranium at 1:22 PM on November 29, 2000
Tell me about it, Avogadro: there are two Shepard prints on my wall. I've already promised myself not to impose ersatz DisneyPooh on my kids. posted by holgate at 2:01 PM on November 29, 2000
Oh, I love the parallel between Bush and Pooh... Too funny.. whoever wrote it.. props to them for the extremely clever piece of writing:
"Pooh, who is, by his own admission, a Bear of Very Little Brain"
But didn't the donkey win the popular vote? posted by lagado at 3:06 PM on November 29, 2000
Hi, person responsible here (blame referrer tracking software). Only wanted to say, Disney illustrations are much easier to find than the originals, and yes, cCranium, I do have a certain respect for Mr Shephard that I don't have for The Disney Corporation.
Glad everyone enjoyed the story though - you may not have checked the archives, but it's actually a followup to this earlier story. posted by scribe at 4:41 PM on November 29, 2000
I love the way we attract creators of work to Metafilter like flies to flypaper ... moths to a flame ... or pooh-bears to hunny. posted by dhartung at 7:31 PM on November 29, 2000
