Puppy eats kitchen knife, survives. Which isn't that surprising. Dogs eat the most amazing things.

BTW - "a elderly" [sic]. Chop-chop, Reuters online news editor.

When our pug was a puppy, she got into all kinds of trouble but came out smelling like the proverbial rose. She nearly devoured the baseboards in our house with no apparent adverse reaction. She jumped out of a car window at the end of a leash, and bounced back like nobody's business. She was hit by a Honda, ran out from underneath, and got away with just a few scrapes.

This past spring at age 14 she ate a rock the size of a quarter. And died.

This has happened before and that dog survived, too (can't seem to find a link). Dogs have very strong stomachs.

My dog ate a 10 foot long gauze bandage. You have no idea what it's like to follow a dog around for days "cutting off the tail" that comes out of his ass, over and over again.

dobbs... how long did it take??

Scientific curiosity... really...

You should have just stepped on the end of the bandage and let the dog walk away...

That's amazing, what a tough creature.

My dog ate a bottle of 15 mg dexedrine I scored on a speed binge. 24 hours of drueling and pacing later she finally fell asleep. Thank god she woke up.

A couple years later she found and ate a bag. Stomach pumping and activated charcoal ensues.

Now she's crashed out at my ankles after spending the day hiking.

All's well that...well, ends.

My dog ate my dad's leather slipper and proceeded to vomit all over the house. We took him to the animal hospital (this is after midnight, mind you, dog still vomiting occassionally in the car) and they took x-rays just to be sure all was well (they told us that he'd be fine once it was all worked out of his system). Luckily there was nothing huge in there that would've needed surgery to remove. So, nothing left to do but take the dog and x-rays home (as a souvenier). So, the next morning, we come to find out that the dog hadn't had enough with the slipper, he got the x-rays off the table and started to eat them too.

Stupid dog. He also ate a whole box of tissues, part of a CD-Rom (we found the demolished remains), a bag of diet chocolates, and several remote controls. Amazingly enough, he's still doing just fine (and will still eat anything that isn't bolted down).

My dog ate an entire box fan cord, except for the plug. Guess it was some good eatin', since she did not get sick and there was no sign of the cord--ever.

Neighbor's dog ate a big red rubber ball, like you use for kickball.

MsVader, I laughed about the dog eating the x-rays...

I assume you're joking but if not... that would have ripped his insides out.

Dobbs, that story about chasing your dog around, cutting off the tail end of the bandage is priceless! That's got to go into a movie someday.
