I've never liked a funglomerate more than I now like Hasbro. Thanks. Now all I need to do is find some time to run a D&D game. I haven't even played, let alone DMed for 5-6 years.

Anyone have the new 3rd edition? All my stuff is 2nd.

The third edition is pretty cool, although my group has stopped playing it (more as a matter of gaming styles than any fundamental problem with the system). I was keeping a half-assed 3E weblog, but eventually realized that Eric Noah was doing a much better job than I could hope to.

We have been playing 3E and like it alot. Similar to the Chaosium system, and very easy to pick up. Especially welcome are straight dice rolls of my sneak skill vs. your listen skill etc.
I very much enjoyed Harmful's Blog of Holding, check it out for yourself and then tell him he is a dirty rotten liar for slagging it.

ah but the important question, how long to I have to play before somebody in the know invites me to join their coven and learn all the cool real spells...I could think of a few people I want mind control over now, dammit!

Okay, since this thread has flushed out the gamer nerds, what systems do people play? I'm pretty much no longer gaming, but has anything appeared recently that people are actually playing? Or is it still D&D plus the Chaosium/White Wolf/L5R axis that my friends pretty much stuck to?

(I was partial to Over the Edge myself.)

I was a reasonably hardcore Palladium gamer. The entire universe (Rifts was such a cool concept. Wanna bring your Palladium character into Ninjas & Superspies? Okay, s/he tripped through a Dimensional Portal!), though mostly Rifts Earth. Not completely out of my own volition, the people I gamed with preferred it over TSR games.

Also played some WarHammer.

Growing up, my dad was a coven lea^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H DM though, and I'd play AD&D weekly.

Lately I've had problems finding time to get myself immersed into a decent campaign, not to mention people with who to get immersed.

God, I can't wait for Neverwinter Nights.

There must be other gamers here, every five minutes somebody makes a claim to ultimate geekieness.
I think Solistrato wrote some White Wolf errata. I would read it, but the idea of playing a game without dice makes me irrational. My wife has been trying to get our group to play Amber for over a year, I am the last holdout. We play every Sunday from 11 to 5.
In my spare time I crunch numbers trying to figure out how to make a 25 sided polyhedron.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've been trying to decide what to do with BoH: kill it, broaden the focus, recruit more contributors, limit it to reviews, or something else. I may be asking for comments and/or suggestions after DWW.

Classics? "Palace of the Silver Princess?" "Dungeonland?" All that Ravenloft crap? Nyet! Where's Against The Giants, Tomb of Horrors and White Plume Mountain? Now those are classics! They could have at least released The Keep On the Borderlands for free.
