"Nick The Pig" to be Indicted Soon? October 4, 2005 8:56 PM Subscribe
"F**k you, I'll fly the cash myself to the Bahamas." Cheney's 2004 RNC Speech...subjected to hermeneutic video-remix treatment by a few blessed souls (or is it "buncha folks"?). For all of Dick's big talk, tho, Lynne's coda cameo constitutes the true "money shot". (Main link: 10MB QT, hosted by Crooks & Liars.) posted by objet (23 comments total)
Should have mentioned - audio definitely NSFW. First post...Apologies! posted by objet at 9:03 PM on October 4, 2005
That was very entertaining. Thanks objet.
This makes it at least the second or third time I've heard the VP say 'fuck.' posted by anarcation at 9:04 PM on October 4, 2005
How can I incorporate the NSFW warning into the body of the post? ('Scuse my greenness...) posted by objet at 9:07 PM on October 4, 2005
After writing your post, you type "NSFW" with your keyboard, if that's the way you want to put it.
This is waaaay old. posted by fungible at 9:24 PM on October 4, 2005
This is waaaay old.
It's still new to me.
And I loved it.
By the way, "NSFW" is up, up down, down, left, right, A, B, select... posted by Jon-o at 9:46 PM on October 4, 2005
Warp record did a much better job with bush & the state of the union. posted by lalochezia at 10:09 PM on October 4, 2005
Call me a masochist, but I also clicked to see Bill O'Reilly defend Abu Ghraib because Nazis machine-gunned Americans at Malmedy during WWII. And that was a war! And war means you can do anything!
Too tired to type Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. posted by bardic at 10:16 PM on October 4, 2005
A n00b myself, but longtime reader, I'm pretty sure NSFW was implied by F**k. posted by IndpMed at 10:27 PM on October 4, 2005
I couldn't find the video, and I'm not sure that I care, really. Sorry. But on this page on the same site, there's an extraordinary essay by Bernard Fall, written in 1964 and nicked from here that I wouldn't have read otherwise, so a convoluted thanks to objet.
For the record it explains why the U.S. were going to lose in Vietnam, and why they're going to lose in Iraq. It seems the military like having experts as long as they don't have to pay any attention to what they say. posted by Grangousier at 1:25 AM on October 5, 2005
Me with Grangousier. No linkee there. Must have whacked their server or something. Oh well... posted by lodurr at 6:04 AM on October 5, 2005
I haven't watched the video and don't much care about it, but I want to second Grangousier's recommendation of the Fall article. The guy was amazingly perceptive. posted by languagehat at 6:18 AM on October 5, 2005
Awesome. Thanks for a much-needed laugh. posted by Rothko at 7:10 AM on October 5, 2005
The "give me a kiss" part is hilarious. Great work. posted by StarForce5 at 9:05 AM on October 5, 2005
Bernard Fall and Street Without Joy were also major influences on Col. David Hackworth (Ret.), who was one of the most knowledgeable voices on the US military and what was wrong with it (and right with it) until his death earlier this year. posted by hackwolf at 9:30 AM on October 5, 2005
The Bernard Fall essay is outstanding -- very imformative, and entirely applicable to our present situation in Iraq. Thanks, Grangousier, for the link. posted by mosk at 11:07 AM on October 5, 2005
