Who got punk'd?
October 11, 2005 6:31 AM   Subscribe

We've discussed the Ashton Kutcher's voicemail problems, though many Mefites quickly caught on that it was fake. The media, it seems, wasn't so smart. The whole thing, it turns out, was an elaborate stunt created by the same guy who gave us The Credit Card Prank. It was the media and the people leaving the voicemails who ultimately got punk'd, but in the end, Ashton surrendered anyway. It's quite possible that by making this post I'm the most punk'd of all. I no longer know what's real and what's fake.

When did 'making people look stupid' become 'entertainment' ?

Was there ever a time it wasn't?

What's "real" is the synthesis of all possible points of view.

Dates back to the stone ages, doesn't it?

re: the 'zug' site, kind of lame how he repeatedly tries to pimp his book, 'wanna know why I'm sooo cool? Buy my book! '

Yes, but I do believe Monica Lewinsky brought it back in style...

Who are those people and why would anyone make an FPP about them here?

They didn't punk Ashton Kutcher, unless they got him to believe that they really hacked his phone. I mean, that boy is stupid, but he's not that stupid.

Is he?

Heheh. Nice to see Jay Leno's joke writer was able to finally join us here in teh blue.

I feel your pain Bondcliff. Unless I see it with my own eyes, it's not real. At least this week.

What? No mention of Springer's influence?

It's things like this (and everything else "Ashton" does) that makes me reluctant to disclose that I grew up near him and I know his parents.

I'd rather promote the fact that I used to play D&D with the Livingston brothers (John and Ron) and that we used to do community theater together. My wife was also an acting coach for kids for a particular modeling agent that later stuck one of her star students in my wife's little class.

There, I think I've redeemed myself. Oh, yea, and Terry Ferrell did a lot of cocaine in high school.

Seems more like it makes you itch to 'disclose' it. Any other names you forgot to drop?

As I mentioned, I don't like to drop his name. It paints a bad light on that area of the country. Particularly when he's seen wearing that stupid trucker hat.

Any other names you forgot to drop?

I'm sure there are. Last month I met Bradley Whitford. Does that count?

You know thanotopsis, you say you were hanging out with Ron and John Livingston yet knew Terry Ferrell in high school, something just doesn't seem right. Either you actually were in high school with Ferrell and hanging out with kids much younger than yourself or you were younger than Ferrell and only promoting hearsay.

Man, I totally read "Perry Farrell" did a lot of coke, and I was like "Yeah? And?". But then I found out it was that chick from DS9.

I believe it was Baudrillard who said, "Ashton Kutcher getting punk'd didn't happen."

No, my wife, who is 3 years older than I, went to high school with her. I didn't attend that particular high school.

zug.com needs a new server something awful. Maybe with this new book deal he can finally afford one, and then I can actually access his site and see ads for his book. I can only dream, I guess.

Paul Linde chased my mother and I through the Miami airport and later through O'Hare airport. (She had that ethnic 'diva' look so favored by female impersonators). We had to get a cop to get him off us.
