Does anyone outside of Canada care about the NHL? huh? The world plays the sport. Many Canadian NHL teams have relocated to the USA. As far as hockey being played for sport, imho Canada wins hands down looking at all their leagues.

raedyn, yes. Lots of us. The Portland minor league team has a rabid fan base and well-attended games. I prefer to watch hockey the same way I prefer basketball: at my house with all the comforts of home and no noisy shriekers, obnoxious drunks, parking problems, or traffic jams.

Does anyone outside of Canada care about the NHL? I ask as a proud Canadian that has more hours of NHL beamed into my living room than all other TV viewing combined. I'll be really curious to see as the season goes on if the lockout has had an effect on attendence (& TV ratings) in the US. My career is over. Don't worry, Cran. I failed the goalie test on the first try. So I tried it again. And failed more miserably.
