The link to This American Life is one of the all-time funniest things I've ever heard in my life. Highly recommended to overcome RealMedia aversion and give it a listen. posted by alms at 8:00 PM on October 14, 2005
Speaking as a person who strongly opposes the war in Iraq but deeply, deeply loves squirrels in tiny costumes, I'm feeling really conflicted right now. posted by piers at 9:43 PM on October 14, 2005
That squirrel had bloodshot eyes? Obviously was feeling a bit sleepy from all the weed, so it was off to dig up some crack. posted by telstar at 10:40 PM on October 14, 2005
i'm sorry, but you just can't mention squirrels + the internet without referencing squirrel hazing. for shame. FOR SHAME! posted by naxosaxur at 11:19 PM on October 14, 2005
Does everyone pronounce FAQ so it rhymes with jack? I say out the letters. I also hate all the abbreviations people use, not too terrible here, but on slashdot its insane. It took me a little while to figure out what FPP stood for.
it can rhyme with jack if it needs to. posted by wakko at 3:02 AM on October 15, 2005
Squirrels lack:
escape pathways
canine teeth

Love the picture of the black squirrel. I hadn't thought it was possible for the little critters to get any cuter. posted by musicinmybrain at 7:35 AM on October 15, 2005
From the first article: "Crack squirrels are a recognised phenomena in the US."
This story was originally written by a friend of mine for the World Weekly News. It got picked up by the mainstream press in Europe, and was then picked up by the New York Times from them, not realizing it was a WWN story... My friend had to make a public apology about it...
Funny that it's still making the rounds. posted by glider at 8:40 AM on October 15, 2005
when Maryville KS says they have an "exclusive profusion" of black squirrels, do they mean they're the only ones who have them? if so, they're fulla it. my neighborhood, in MN, has a whole bunch. posted by RedEmma at 10:05 AM on October 15, 2005

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I once saw a crazy one-eyed squirrel eating another dead squirrel, and it was disturbing. posted by mrgrimm at 4:56 PM on October 16, 2005
