George Bush: 'God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq'. President told Palestinians God also talked to him about Middle East peace. George Bush has claimed he was on a mission from God when he launched the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a senior Palestinian politician in an interview to be broadcast by the BBC later this month. Mr Bush revealed the extent of his religious fervour when he met a Palestinian delegation during the Israeli-Palestinian summit at the Egpytian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, four months after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Hmm, it seems that Nabeel Shaat changed his version.

But the real one is still amazing :

"President Bush said that God guided him in what he should do, and this guidance led him to go to Afghanistan to rid it of terrorism after 9/11 and led him to Iraq to fight tyranny,"

Assuming that it's real in the first place, of course. Not saying he's not a believer - but how well is this actually documented, or is it a case of "We hate this bastard so we'll say shit that'll make him look bad to his own people, knowing he's so inept he wouldn't deny it."?

Republicanism. A late 20th century religious movement combining aspects of American style right wing politics with aspects of evangelical Christianity with particular emphasis on apects of Old Testament Law and New Testament eschatology. It derives its name from the old Republican Party, an American mainstream political party, which it has successfully succeeded in replacing. It began as what the Federalist Papers (number10) termed, a "faction", but has since grown to be dominant under the leadership of President George W. Bush.

As with most new religious movements its program is aimed at spreading its gospel throughout the existing political system by reinterpreting the U.S. Constitution in order to make it conform more closely to the faction’s particular favored program.

Synonyms: Freedom (new usage)

See also: Democracy, Scientism, faction

The above is my first attempt to create a Wikipedia entry - not yet submitted. Please feel free to edit it or extend it. What seems to be needed is a new frame in which to speak about what is actually going on in America.

donfactor, if you're seriously considering putting this on Wikipedia, don't. Wikipedia's for information, not editorializing. Put it on everything2 if you want.

Isn't that the essence of politics, right or left?
