A bit more detailed, and all-ASCII.

via b3ta.
Initially created "A New Hope" version.
Other details on FoldsFive's profile.

Some credit where credit is due, please. This seems one step away from hotlinking and is a damn lazy FPP to boot.
Boo hiss, old-timer.

(for context, b3ta members are forever having their images hijacked, de-tagged and used in viral emails, national newspapers and, most recently, by Nickelodeon. It would be real swell if the artists got some credit occasionally)

hot damn, this seems like someone making an fpp directly from someone else's caps lock day comment.

NinjaPirate, can you cite the Nickelodeon mis-use? I'm interested in that kind of thing but web searching didn't work for me.

It was Donkey Gums who had the troubles with Nic. I think it was the Hasselhoff image he links to in his profile in particular, but I'm sure he'd be able to tell you all about it.

The newspapers so far have (I believe, because I don't read them myself) included the Daily Mail, Daily and Sunday Sports and the Sun.

Here's Donkey Gums' post on the subject. It does happen a lot.
The Sport newspaper actually got in touch and more-or-less apologised for reprinting stuff uncredited after b3ta ran a weekly image challenge to make fun of their editor...

For once, I wasn't the first person to jump on a bad fpp for the above-mentioned reasons.

What? Nickelodeon? Steal others ideas and claim them for their own! I will not hear this heresy!

Nick are dirty bastards. Reminds me of Death to Smoochy.

Hey ninga pirate...
There are credits in the damn gif!
posted by srboisvert at 5:58 AM on October 25, 2005

That's just crap for Donkey Gums. I wonder how that will turn out.

As for David Sullivan using without permission...well that's only to be expected from a twat like that.

Credit or no credit that was still fairly cool. The lesson, as always, there are some people with way too much time on there hands...and they create some useless, but really cool things.

On the whole, I'd have preferred seeing Revenge of the Sith this way to squandering $6.50 and two hours of my life.

Hey Srboisvery...
when MeFites link to (for the sake of argument) works of art, should they include the name of the artist, a contextual link, some background perhaps?
Or should they just link to a single picture with a signature in the corner?
posted by NinjaPirate at 6:56 AM on October 25, 2005

This would be better if it didn't suck.

You can only tell what's going on if you're already very familiar with the plot (as I'm sure most people are) Ah well...

I am picturing you standing atop vanquished non-credit givers with a look of righteous smugness, your chest pumped up and puffed out through your torn with pirate blouse and admiring babes gathered all around your feet looking lustily at your mighty saber. At the bottom of the picture in cursive script is Ninja Pirate.

I find your credit requirements onerous and hereby declare myself free to ignore them. I likewise find your request that links be accompanied by an expository essay to be unfun. Don't worry though. I am 100% sure I will never link to anything you do.

bouncebounce: What's your beef with Sullivan? Sounds like the Sunday Sport were the only paper to offer any sort of apology so were probably the least bad of the three mentioned. Any reason to single him out? (Not defending him, and certainly not the Sunday Sport, just being nosey really.)

But...but....Revenge of the Sith was the good one! Right? Right?

This is brilliant. My only criticism is that Luke and Vader's light sabre duel comes off more like a ... light sabre stroking.

MrMustard: It's only based on my observations of the guy from interviews (TV, print) and the like. I don't have any documentary evidence :) but his manner makes me seethe.

I've never met Bush either but I have pretty much the same opinion of him. Still at least Sullivan only controls a grotty little rag.

bouncebounce: Fair enough chief. I'm not his biggest fan either, despite the fact he owns the football team I, for my sins, support. I just happen to think he's a darn sight less unpleasant than the owners/editors of The Sun or [shudders] The Daily Mail.
