Almost perfect. All they need to do now is replace R2-D2's eye with a digital projector, so R2-D2 can project his desktop onto the wall. That will suffice until a holographic projector is invented...

Cool. What more really is there to say? As one of about 12 people on the planet who love all six SW films I can quite clearly state that this is not cool. It's good. Nice bit of work 'n' all that, but not cool. Nerd-cool, maybe, but that's a whole different spectrum to actual cool. Or what keswick says, far more sucinctly ;-) The floppy drive made me laugh...do people still really use those things? Retro-D2!

That "improved" trash can is great. It is disturbing how that little droid has become a sort of archetype in the consciousness of those of us who grew up in the Star Wars era. How many of you have a shop-vac in the garage? How many of you refer to it as "R2"? (Scroll down for another one.) These people named their air conditioner R2D2. It lives in their camper-van. It's hard to look at U.S. Mail boxes on the street, or cylindrical stainless-steel garbage cans, without seeing a potential R2 unit. Sorta like Catholics are always seeing Mother Mary ...

The floppy drive made me laugh...do people still really use those things? Retro-D2! If you think about it, a floppy is probably one of the closest things to the card that Leia inserts into R2-D2 with the specs of the DS on them. Memory cards currently aren't large enough in physical size to reflect Leia's card. Alas. I think its definitely very cool. Only problem is, is it self propelled? You could hook it up with blue tooth and wi-fi technology and have R2 be independent of all those nasty cables.

The floppy drive made me laugh...do people still really use those things? Retro-D2! Well, the last time I bought a computer I made sure to get a floppy drive for it. It only cost $25, and I knew that I'd feel really dumb if I ever needed a floppy drive and didn't have one installed. Sure enough, I've needed it four or five times in the past three years or so. Money well spent.

Really, FOB? I've managed to get by for a good long while without one using flash disks, bootable CDRS, external HD's - if there's still something out there that requires a floppy drive, I'd like to know what it is, since I'm about to get a new PC - as you say, I'd feel awful stupid if that situation came up...
