Slash swears on UK kiddie show - do they need any more reason to bring him back into GnR?? Duff too, while you're at it.

you do realize it's almost ten years to the day of him saying 'fuckin' ... oops' on the american music awards, TWICE, thus causing that awards show to institute the 7 second delay?
that wound up turning into one of my best high school moments. sigh. posted by maura at 1:38 PM on December 4, 2000
Jesus! Who's bright idea was it to put him on a kid's show, for chrissakes? The same people that thought RHCP should appear on Sesame Street? posted by rklawler at 1:53 PM on December 4, 2000
Gn'R were great.
Though I always wondered why Slash, Izzy Matt and Duff didn't form a band which would be essentially Gn'R under another name.
A pity Axl is so hard to work with.....on their good days Gn'R were pretty damn good.
And Slash was easily the best rock guitarist in the world in the late 80's and into the 90's. posted by tomcosgrave at 3:01 PM on December 4, 2000
As far as rock guitarists go, he did have a knack for more melodic guitar solos. Technically speaking, I don't think he was that great. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eddie Van Halen all did (technically) better rock guitar in the '80s.
Not too many rock guitar solos these days, though. It's all either in the Lenny Kravitz/Red Hot Chili Peppers VH-1 rock camp, or the crunchy Rage Against the Machine/Kid Rock style. posted by waxpancake at 5:59 PM on December 4, 2000

Collective Soul's Ross Childress is pretty good, just not too well known as the focus is always on Ed and Dean Roland. posted by riffola at 7:44 PM on December 4, 2000

Hey! I saw the programme in question (yes, OK, but it has a cult appeal in the UK - trust me...) and Slash didn't "start swearing." The presenter asked him "What's the strangest rumour you ever heard about yourself?" adn he replied "I heard that I got a blow job in a club."
Two minutes later, he said that one of his pet lizards had "bitten fuck" out of his hand - not in an attempt to shock, just because that's how he speaks!
that wound up turning into one of my best high school moments. sigh.
