Toy Party

A fantastic collection of old school toys posing in many astounding and awkward landscapes consolidated into a Flickr slideshow. Just as life should be.
What great attention to detail in the use of backgrounds and landscapes. It must really have been fun for him/her to arrange the toys just so.
That makes me want to start collectingdolls action figures.

We did something similar in the first year of my Digital Media degree, and yes, it's loads of fun.
Great photos, but not sure about the photoshopped ones. Kinda detracts from the point.

Most of the toys aren't that old actually, but they are pretty obscure. Lots of urban vinyl / Japanese stuff.
I dunno - the photos themselves are unremarkable, and the photoshopped ones are pretty bad.

When I read the phrase "old school toys", I began wondering what school toys those might be. My mind went back to kindergarten in the 70s...Base 10 blocks? The play kitchen? Those 'blocks' made out of cardboard stamped to look like bricks?
Turns out it was about old-school toys, really. The power of a hyphen!

What is the difference between old-school and retro?
I'm seriously asking here. Many of the toys shown and I've heard fashions and kitsch in a similar vein described alternately as old-school or retro when they are objects manufactured in the present but reminiscent of a style found in the past. I was curious as to the difference.
