Yes. YES! The original came out in 1989, when the Commodore 64 was in it's dying days. With PC and Nintendo games dominating the market, games like this showed how great the C64 really was. Now if only I still had one of these.

Great! But it would look much more nostalgic without the anti-aliasing. Is this from the Atari ST version? Are there any more 8-bit/16-bit-era games available on the web?

Booyah indeed! I also had the Atari ST version of this (I think this port may well be from that version, the graphics are 16-bit I think). I remember it being one of the hardest games I ever played. Nice to know that the advancing years haven't destroyed that particular memory... but it was also a fantastic game, as were lots of the other Firebird titles. On a sidenote, I found out recently that it was British Telecom who owned Firebird. Surely there's the potential for them to remake all their old back catalogue for mobile phones? We can but hope...

There is a free non flash version of Rick out there. BT has totally failed to get anything out of this clever franchise. If they had had some nous they could have used this to create a 3D series that could have been a huge seller. There have been attempts to do a 2D version of this for the Game Boy Advance but unfortunately these efforts failed. But it looks like there are a few folks out there who are doing stuff with Rick, Rick III looks like it might be cool.

This game is unforgiving in many aspects. I especially loved how you have to repeat a section again and again until you remember the locations of all of the hidden traps. Ahh the good ole days of gaming.
