Beautiful and very cool! I'm not sure what it represents but I like it, kind of like a little app I used to have called Solid Nirvana but with image thumbs instead of just solid dots.

I have read the phrase "has too much time on his hands" at least two dozen times during the past few months, usually from folks describing one or another of my computer-assisted works.

I can only say that, due to my ability to bend computers to my will, I have exactly the right amount of time on my hands, but that most of you, sadly, don't have nearly enough!

For this I pity you. Mua ha ha. :-)

It looks properly formed: the number of spirals counting one direction is 34, the other direction is 55, which are sequential Fibonacci series numbers.

Yes, the placement uses the golden angle, which is π * φ (or PI times the Golden Ratio), and it tends to produce fibonacci numbers in spades.

If you're a programmer or geek, and would like to play with the algorithm used to place the circles, I've put a processing program on the website (with source code) here:
