Everything I Know-Buckminster Fuller During the last two weeks of January 1975 Buckminster Fuller gave an extraordinary series of lectures concerning his entire life's work. These thinking out loud lectures span 42 hours (audio and text available) and examine in depth all of Fuller's major inventions and discoveries from the 1927 Dymaxion house, car and bathroom, through the Wichita House, geodesic domes, and tensegrity structures, as well as the contents of Synergetics.

The title is a little screwed up. But, huh? Front page? I may be wrong about this but there is only the front page for posts, joeclark. Perhaps you are thinking of digg. Anyway, excellent post. We need more Bucky. However we need far far far less real media format audio. And I think Buckminster himself would agree.

Could I just say (1) good links (I think geodesic domes are ingenious, but was not aware of some of the lesser known stuff). However, (2) What's the point of typing exactly the same intro text your first FP link connects to? This isn't the first offense I've seen--others do it too--but geez...can't you then move on to something like "This collection of BF lectures from 1975 includes...." etc. Otherwise your text comes off as, well, kinda plagiarized. Not to mention repetitive. Nevertheless, I've flagged the Bucky page and will be reading more.

Nice post. More people reading Buckminster Fuller => better society. There's always someone these days complaining about every post, often for the most spurious of reasons... is it some sort of conspiracy to frighten people into not contributing?

Well, Jesus fucking Christ or not, assembling a bunch of old links does not a MetaFilter front-page post make. Then again, perhaps I am merely living in the good old days when something like that would appear on one's own personal Weblog rather than a group Weblog. Should anyone not be following along, by the way, it is possible to create and blog about a new Web site about an old subject, e.g., a dead futurist. The first link given in this post has a prominent copyright date of 1997. So indeed, dear friends, no news value.

joeclark's been here forever (even before me) but seems to have forgotten that it's the best of the web we seek regardless of production date. Enron, good choice of material, and making the FPP text a quote from one of the links is one acceptable presentation style, which as you say, removes you from the role of introducing a bias. I'm just surprised the title hasn't been fixed.

I remember reading an essay by (stewart brand?) complaining about the domes that the NoCal hippies had been promoting for so long--just how difficult they were to actually live in, and how everything had to be custom-built due to the shape. and the leaks. I still like them.

I finally figured out what all the fuss was about concerning the "Title" of the post. I typed in the title using Buckminster instead of Bucky and it looked like it truncated the text, so I erased and re-wrote the shorter "Bucky". Guess I was wrong. If there is a way for me to fix this, I can't find it. Can somebody help so I don't make the same mistake again?
