Oh no I'm just a gigolo :(
posted by elpapacito at 5:43 AM on November 16, 2005

Is being a gigolo an obsolete skill, elpapacito?

I'm pretty sure this post is well on its way to obsolescence. In the meantime, I am Gregg shorthand. Dead on.

I KNOW that juggler! We lived in the same college house senior year!

He's now at Harvard Divinity, and still juggling.

Oh ...I'm Latin. Though I prefer to think I'm Byzantine.

I'm "linking to quizilla".

Gregg shorthand as well. This is not a revelation to me.
posted by antifuse at 5:53 AM on November 16, 2005

This is not LiveJournal.

And that's exactly where my results went (Gregg shorthand, if anyone wants to know).

However, I must admit that this is better than most quizzes you see via LiveJournal...
posted by May Kasahara at 6:02 AM on November 16, 2005

I, too, am Gregg shorthand. Which looks quite a bit like my normal handwriting, which is somewhat scary.
posted by Godbert at 6:04 AM on November 16, 2005

qbasic here.
posted by nofundy at 6:04 AM on November 16, 2005

Qbasic also. And actually, the analysis wasn't half bad. "Valuing clarity and precision" in speech and writing? Definitely.
posted by orange swan at 6:07 AM on November 16, 2005

hah! i'm French (and just got back from Paris!) : >
posted by amberglow at 6:18 AM on November 16, 2005

I'm "French", which is bordering on the offensive.
I expect an apology in my pigeonhole tomorrow morning, tidecat.

Also greg shorthand. I, however, value obfuscation and incongruence in both speech and writing.
posted by IronLizard at 6:27 AM on November 16, 2005

I didn't take the quiz, but I'm sure I'm either "Passenger Pigeon Hunter" or "Female Hysteria Treatment Specialist".
posted by mr_crash_davis at 6:30 AM on November 16, 2005

QBASIC here, too.
I think I'm more Applesoft BASIC.

I am French, which considering I have taken and failed that class on three seperate occasions, might be God's way of playing a joke.

Gregg shorthand. Which is funny cause when I was in highschool I learned it so I could pass notes without people being able to read them...

Regularly metric verse.
I suppose it could be worse.

I'm Latin.
Spot on indeed. I didn't even answer the 12th hour.
posted by Busithoth at 7:01 AM on November 16, 2005

Heh. Latin, too. Seems to be a trend.
posted by Thorzdad at 7:02 AM on November 16, 2005

1. Um, what juggler?
2. I'm latin. Interesting since I studied it for a few years in school and have lately been wondering about picking it back up again. You know -- for kicks.
posted by devbrain at 7:03 AM on November 16, 2005

I Am "Programming in QBASIC". Which is funny because the only time I've ever coded in QBASIC was when I hacked Gorilla once to change the speed and arc of the banana-bombs.

My stripper name is "nude gingrich." Which is a disturbingly accurate moniker, except for the political bent. TMI, yet?
posted by lodurr at 7:03 AM on November 16, 2005

lame or not, it's a relief from the meta-drama.
posted by lodurr at 7:05 AM on November 16, 2005

Programming in QBASIC. I was thinking more along the lines of VB5 but maybe that;s not obsolete enough yet.
posted by MikeMc at 7:06 AM on November 16, 2005

Latin here, too.
posted by Ethereal Bligh at 7:12 AM on November 16, 2005

QBASIC too. Which has weirded me out, because I spent some of the weekend farting around in RealBASIC. I'd acquired it on a whim; haven't actually coded in BASIC for over 10 years but was bored and had a quick problem to solve.

languagehat, your willingness to embrace lowbrow pleasures is highly endearing.

Last year, I was 'programming in QBASIC'. This year, I am 'French'. I blame SF.

"Regularly metric verse" is more properly regarded as "middlebrow" than "lowbrow" I think, arguably not to its credit.

There's no way I'm doing the quiz, but I'm pretty good with a bo staff.

So someone deleted this, which might have been a self-link (evidence?) but at least began to generate substantive discussion...but this drool-puddle gets a pass?

Nice way to run a site. "Best of the web," indeed.
posted by cribcage at 11:26 AM on November 16, 2005

Jugglers are obsolete? Do these people not believe in the circus? Or street performers who can't carry a tune but still want to entertain?

Bah! My real obsolete skill is high speed rotary dialing on the old phones. I was hell on a rotary wheel back in the day!

That said, this would be a much better post on your own blog. There, that was polite, wasn't it?
