American Edit A reinterpretation of Green Day's "American Idiot"
"Dr. Who on Holiday" is my new favourite song of all time... ever.

Uh-oh. Minus some serious cool points for ripping off "Boulevard of Broken Songs" in its entirety.

I had heard it before, and I assumed it was just the same guy upon seeing it here.... guess not?

Some of this is very clever. Though I have to say, if you're going to match up "We Are the Waiting" with any song, it'd have to be "Whisper to a Scream" by... um... that one British band.

This is really cool; thanks for the link. I doubt I would have stumbled across this on my own.

"Dr Who on Holiday" sounds terribly similar to "Doctorin' the TARDIS", a single produced by The KLF/The Timelords in the late 80s in the UK. It also laid bits of Daleks (the same bits?) over another song (a Gary Glitter number then) and was a huge number one success.
The KLF were a performance art group who went on to write "How to have a number one the easy way", fired blanks at a pop award ceremony and (apparently) burnt a millions pounds for a laugh. The KLF.

That's because he's using it.
But yeah, nicely pointed out that it's one of the earliest mash-ups.

When you awake, feeling foggy, and stumble downstairs... there are beer bottles everywhere, the sunlight streaming in the windows glints off the thick rum & coke stains on the glass table top, the air is thick with the stale smell of cigarettes, and here & there are bodies lying on horizontal surfaces, some stretched out, some curled up in uncomfortable positions... put track 1 on, and they'll stir, slightly at first, then magically arise and start tidying.

My buddy sent this to me via AIM yesterday with the quote "Hurry quick, get this before it's Fark or Metafilter in two days."

EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!
+50 points for Dr. Who reference, -10 points for Green Day sucking, +10 for making them suck less. +20 more points for Dr. Who.

I came across this yesterday and downloaded the first track, "American Jesus", and really liked it. Then I downloaded the rest and found it a bit disappointing in comparison.

They got a C&D so the tracks are down. But go here for info on Dean Gray Tuesday, December 13, when they will reappear all over the world for your downloading pleasure.
