My favorite part comes during the scene where Arnold dances the samba, and not one, not two, but all three of the professional dancers at the club have to delicately (but obviously quite deliberately) grab his hands and move them off of their nether regions, which he had immediately groped. That's our governor...

I'm pretty sure this clip is from Carnival in Rio, which was done for the Playboy Channel. IMDB dates it as 1983, but it could have been filmed a couple of years before that I suppose.

I like the tags associated with this post, especially when read in order. "Schwarzenegger, embarassment, video, assman." It makes me chuckle. But then, I am amused by simple things. BOOBIES! THERE'S BOOBIES IN THIS VIDEO! Where was I? Oh yeah. I had a question to ask. My question is, amongst the 25 years and older MeFite crowd, who here hasn't got something embarrasing in their past? If you're honest with yourselves, I'd bet most, if not all of you, have at least one thing that would cause embarassment if it surfaced when you're older. It's the same case as this video. Sure it's embarassing for Ahnuld. That stuff with the carrot and his 'flirting' with that chick in the restaraunt is, no doubt, truly embarassing stuff for Arnold. But do those actions in and of themselves constitute something worth attacking Arnold the politician over? Sure, it may be hypocritical of him from a 'family values' point of view if indeed he ever ran on such a platform (and I'd like to point out at this stage that as a non-American who knows little of Californian politics that I'm not sure if he ever ran on such a platform), but even if he did, we can only then attack or ridicule him on his hypocricy. But if we do so, given that almost all of us will have some sort of embarassing skeleton in our respective closets, doesn't that also make us hypocrites if indeed we then chose do so? In saying all of that, I believe that the only real substance this video, and indeed this post, has in terms of political debate; the only actions in this video that should score valid (not cheap) political points for Schwarzenegger's political opponents, is when he gropes those women in areas he shouldn't really be groping. As far as we can tell from this video, he's doing so without their consent, and that is something that is clearly wrong and for which the Governor will almost certainly have to have some answers for. It is something anybody, except rapists or other molestors, could rightfully criticise, without fear of hypocricy. I'm sorry if I've missed the point of this post, and I certainly don't meant to criticise you, jonson, for posting it (if indeed you feel I am doing so, which I'd like to assure you I'm not). If it was posted purely for laughs, then I guess I missed it. If it was posted to criticise him, then I say that's all well and good, and we should certainly do so, but only to the extent of his inappropriate actions and views towards women. As for his cringe-worthy flirting and other silly antics, I believe that that is something which should probably remain out of any political debate.

In a country that was recently obsessed with discovering whether a sitting president got some consensual blow jobs from a thong-flashing vixen, surely the idea that a president wannabee has a taste for serial acts of non-consensual sexual activity is right in line with the political zeitgeist? I'm sorry if I've missed the point of this post I think the point is that, sexual harrassment aside, the damn video was an absolute hoot. But if someone can't take public mockery based upon your past actions -- regardless of what they might be -- then they probably shouldn't be in politics in the first place.

Hi there, my first post here, I think this could very well be a cultural misunderstanding between the dancers and the Governor. I have traveled quite extensively and lived in several interesting places and still I am sometimes surprised by acceptable norms of socializing and public behavior. An example might help illustrate my point of view. Just this last Friday, I happened to be sitting in the first row during a French jazz performance and the lady singing the blues, changed her tone and announced she was going to perform a more chirpy and happy tune to change the mode a little. At this point, she raised her finger, pointing it to me and suggested that I should ask the lady sitting two seats next to myself for the next dance and showed me with hand movements that I needed to put my hands on my partner's behind for this happy tune. Not being accustomed to European dance etiquette I was naturally taken aback a bit, failing to oblige. The surprise part came when the lady, whose behind I was supposed to grab got up and left her seat offended – not at the vocalist to my surprise but at my refusal to grab her behind. I think governer was simply trying not to offend these attractive ladies.

Isn't that a big enough point for you, Effigy2000? Indeed, it is a big enough point for me. But in terms of framing the political debate that this video's unearthing will undoubtebly create, my hope (my point, if you will) is that any criticism of Schwarzenegger will centre on his interaction with the dancers, as opposed to his embarrasing flirting and the suggestive manner in which he eats his carrots. But if someone can't take public mockery based upon your past actions -- regardless of what they might be -- then they probably shouldn't be in politics in the first place. I agree entirely. But isn't part of the problem of modern politics the cheapening of the political debate? I think so. I think we should all have a laugh at what Ahnuld does in this film, but that it shouldn't distract us from the real debate, which is whether someone who apparently thinks its ok to grope first and ask questions later is fit to hold office. On the other hand, I would like to think that I would have had at least the marginal good sense to refrain from acting like a total dillweed when I knew that I was being filmed/interviewed. I think Effigy2000 raises a good point. Clinton was gigged for his "I didn't inhale" b.s., which I think most people recognized as tap dancing. And made fun of. On the other hand Arnold has completely denied smoking marijuana, but there is a video of him clearly showing him smoking dope. No problems though. Also, he denies allegations that he has mishandled women. Here again we have a video that does not lead me to believe his behavior around women has been exemplary. While I disagree with the fuss made over Clinton's BJ, I do agree that it was a character issue. Do I think character has a place in politics? In some cases yes, some no. Depends on the magnitude and on the cover up. In some instances though, clearly, people's reaction to it depends only on party or whatever your side is. I would include those people in the "hypocrite" category. I've done some not-so-nice things in the past. If I were running for office I would probably be straight about that. I don't see how someone who is above reproach can relate to us regular folks. I probably wouldn't get elected. But Jesse Ventura was elected and he talked about sex with hookers, so... But there are different degrees. From arrests and incarceration to simply making a fool of yourself. I have a number of fights in my police record. One of them was over a guy who was sexually assaulting a woman. I'm not saying Schwarzenegger wouldn't turn me into a pretzel, but it's just one of those things I have a problem with. Smoking dope on the other hand I consider a point in his favor. Except for, y'know, lying about it.

I watched the documentary on the making of the movie "Pumping Iron", and Arnold talks about his dope-smoking scene in the movie. Succa , my mistake. My fault for watching local t.v. news at the time. Arnold kept changing the line on allegations around him, so I lumped that in with the others. I don't particularly believe his statement that he never tried it again. But there's no reason to believe he continued. I like the guy, I can't condemn a man who personally swam out to save a drowning guy while on his vacation. I just don't think he's that great a leader. But I'm not in California, so.... Gore I believe never touched marijuana in his life. How could that have even been an issue? The man is so stiff you could pound him into a railroad tie.

That clip is hilarious. "They must be very healthy"! I have to wonder at the definition of 'obscene' in use here though, if that one goofy grope is an obscene act or no less than sexual assault then 90% of the male population should be in jail. And at least 40% of the female too. Depending on where you are. Not that I like Arnold but come on... he is a buffoon, that's the carnival in Rio, and that's some impressive ass-shaking. What else do you expect? I'm not seeing anything creepy in there. Cringe-hilarious use of a carrot stick, yeah, but the rest is pretty harmless, erm, arsing about.

In the governator's defense, he was filming a video for the Playboy channel. You kind of have to get in the act a little bit and 'get involved in the action' as opposed to standing back and just narrating. I don't think we can compare our version of embarrassing to an actor's. This is certainly embarrasing to him, but how many other things do low and mid-level celebrities do to get work that is embarrasing?

What I find more recent and disconcerting is that the Washington Post reported that his former mistress Gigi Goyette was bribed to keep silent about her affair with Schwarzenegger. Keep in mind that Schwarzenegger first had sex with Goyette in California back in '75, when she was 16 years old. He also maintained the relationship with her, even during the early years of his marriage. So, he's not just an abusive ass grabber. He's a clild molester / statutory rapist who bribed his victim for her silence.

Here's additional info that I researched prior to the last election on Schwarzenegger's skeletons. What is scary is that the person who first mentioned Schwarzenegger's mistress (which was later confirmed) and Schwarzenegger's nude photos (which were also confirmed) also stated that Schwarzenegger had been paid in the '70s to be a "male escort" for rich gay millionaires, including Merv Griffin. It is also claimed that Arnold wrecked a vehicle while driving intoxicated back in 1969 in California, that turned out to be stolen. A friend of his apparently took the rap.

I should perhaps mention that it would be a great idea for those opposed to a continuation of the Schwarzenegger government to donate to the Angeledes 2006 campaign.
