I had one of these a couple of years ago. It didn't work that well, but was nice to wake up to a comfortable pillow and a nice bottle of Pepsi Blue (tm).

It's damn cold in my apartment...you know, this being late November and all. If anything, I have the opposite problem.

Coveted cool spot? I spend my coveted morning minutes pretending I'm not awake and luxurating in the warmth, not seeking out cold. I don't get it. Is this something you have to be in the south to understand?

I think this sounds like a fabulous idea... in theory, but how does it NOT require refrigeration? A synergy between specialized materials, fluids and laws of thermodynamics that creates a dry, powerless, thermo-regulating and memory foam effect – this is the science behind SoothSoft Comfort Technology®. that part sounds creepy.

If it weren't for the chillow, I wouldn't have survived this hurricane season. I bought one in desperation when I couldn't take the lack of air conditioning any longer. It works, but all it is is a flat vinyl pouch with some squishy foam material inside, you have to fill it up with water. I think it just uses a large surface area to distribute the heat away from you.

Well its unseasonably warm here in NY for late November, and I'm always hot - or at least my head is in the morning. Anyway, its not an ad for a product, just something I saw that I thought was cool...guess I thought looking for the cool spot on the pillow might be a common experience in society.

I wake up roasting every morning, but then, I do live in The Wang. Still, there's no way I'd pay thirty bucks for something like this when I can just reach for the spare pillow.

This is like something I actually went looking in the stores hoping to find last summer. My pillow is always too hot for me after a couple hours in bed. I remembered how my water bed used to always be cold when the heater wore out on it, and figured you could do the same for a pillow. I guess someone beat me to making it into an actual product. Glad to know I'm not insane for wanting something similar.

I know there's some cold pack that is activated by popping a capsule of -- something -- inside it. It gets cold immediately with no refrigeration, so the Chiller isn't the first product to manage this thermodynamic miracle.

maudlin: Ammonium Chloride, when mixed with water, causes the water to cool. As do a few other inorganic salts. But I think this is a passive thing, working by simple conduction of heat away from the head, as mentioned up-thread.
