5k site debuts...and it's awesome. Stewart, Eric and Matt have obviously collaborated well on this project.
It really whets my appetite for the TicketStubs site, which I'm really looking forward to, aren't you?

Yeah, that one became a bit annoying while reading the whole text.

Pfffh. How dare you. Dave doesn’t own, nor was he the first to use, conversational writing.

No, that's not nearly as bad as Mister Eggers's stijl. Not half.

I agree with palegirl. It's not conversational writing. It's conversational writing stylized in a really annoying way -- "registration and logins and such — that is not the good thing about websites. That is the bad thing." etc.

Man, I can't believe you guys.

When we asked Dave to write that piece for us, we told him to not make it too obvious it was him writing, and I thought no one would ever recognize him! But you can't put anything over on this metafilter crowd.

Can anyone spot the bit on the site that we had Dave Winer write?

I wish this thread wasn't dead already (I've been in offline and travelling for a little while) because I could have said something clever. But now I can't think of anything clever anyway. Except: "Oh yeah? Why don't you come over here and make fun of my Dave Eggers-like writing?"

I guess that wasn't very clever.
