One Red Paperclip. I knew a guy like this in High School, but this guy is nicer and less ruthless.

We did this a few weeks ago, but it's still kind of interesting.

Ack. Before things get out of hand, please ignore the title. I totally forgot what Project Paperclip was all about. My lizard hindbrain must have just dragged that one up in an attempt to be clever.

On preview: BAD PREVIEW POST SEARCH PLEASE DELETE KTHX. *sigh*

Start of the morning here in the UK - we've already started on a brand new day of prevarication.

Uh oh. The Brits are on to you. Raise the Matt Signal and hope this all goes away.

Clearly this thread has to die but I was interested to see how it's moved along since the last time. Can someone post it again in another month or two to keep the update going? Preference would be for UK weekday morning time again so I see it again before deletion. Ta! (I could bookmark but I'd forget to look at it again anyway.)

This guy worked his way up from one red paperclip... to a snowmobile owned by Hi-Ha Tremblay? Man. You could probably find people willing to offer a house for that.

For those who don't know who Michel Barrette is, he is a very well-known Quebecois comedian, has been for a long time (early eighties?). He has a very popular character, Hi-Ha Tremblay, but he doesn't do him anymore, unfortunately. He sung "C'est l'temps d'une dinde" (not sure who wrote it, but he's the one that sung it), a trademark "Chanson à répondre" for new year's eve. For sure he'll get something nice for that snowmobile. FWIW, you could probably ebay it for a princely sum.

C'est le temps d'une dinde, dinde, dinde
Swing la baquaise, prends donc des atacas
Encore d'la dinde, dinde, dinde
La damnée dinde du Jour de l'An
Oui je l'aurai su' l'estomac longtemps

It is the time of a turkey, turkey, turkey
Swing the baquaise, thus take atacas
Encore of turkey, turkey,
damnée turkey the turkey of the New Year's Day
Yes I will have it a long time su' the stomach

This thread's existence is now justified by splice's post about Hi-Ha Tremblay, I reckon.
