Bad Sex

The 2005 Bad Sex Awards. We've discussed (disgust?) bad sex before, and last night was London's annual Bad Sex in Fiction awards, sponsored by the Literary Review magazine. The winner was Giles Coren, for a passage comparing a penis to a shower head bouncing around in an empty bath. He won a trophy and a bottle of champagne, presented by the artist Grayson Perry. If you can stand it, the whole sorry collection of nominations, including Paul Theroux, John Updike and Salman Rushdie, is available here. Comment of the evening: "It really is utterly foul."
