Pull any what? I read the article, found it interesting and engaging, and I still don't know what your words mean. What? Pull what?

His finger, of course.

Okay, I don't get the "pull any" comment either. Please explain for my thick skull's benefit, thanks!

The article was supremely interesting and not surprising in the least. It seems that a lot of liberal/progressive thought is extremely averse to critical analysis. I expect that kind of behavior from conservatives (not to say that all conservatives avoid criticism, of course), but I suppose it's inherent to humanity. Even if our message is tolerance and fairness, we tend to be extremely intolerant and unfair to those who disagree. Ah well, hypocrisy is fun.

Hmm.. pull any? any what?

Seemed like he made valid points, haven't read his books or articles. What's the problem?

Pull birds, innit. Or, if you prefer, chicks.

Remember also that this is from the Sunday Times - and from the amusingly-named "News Review" section as well.

Yes yes, pull = get females. I was quoting a response in an IRC channel when I mentioned the URL.

I thought "Bet he can't pull any, either" was a awful response, the article made several good points. If anyone has been following this guy they'll know he's no white knight, but he didn't at all deserve what happened in 1990 either. His, er, review of feminism was spot on, I thought.

Gurt lush mint jam.

that was brilliant. does anyone know where I can look at a copy of his essay?

It's complex, I don't like the idea of a blanket condemnation of feminism any more than I like to see bigotry and persecution justified in its name.

I just now read the article. I found it very interesting indeed and was very sad about how hard they were on him. yes, I don't think he deserved it!

I don't think he was downing on feminism at all by the sound of this article, but then I haven't read his books or essays either, so I guess I wouldn't know.
