Personalized Digg. What if you could be able to read news filtered by people you trust? Of course it would be better if system can automatically learn your interests and likes, filtering the news appropriately... Beelaxy tries to do that job.

I got excited about the first part of this post, until I got to the "system can automatically learn your interests" part. TiVo tries to do the same thing and fails miserably, IMO. We're just not there yet.

I was sceptical, but it's written by JetBrains who also do the super awesome IntelliJ IDEA which is hands down the best (commercial) Java IDE out there. Too bad you have to have an invitation to join the beta. Anyone want to share?

The people I trust have different views of the world, so I might be able to get away with it. But you don't want to get caught up in drinking your own urine all the time. That and you risk myopia. Obsession even. Monotopical. I think it's antithetical to what metafilter seems to be. I love the diversity here. Occasionally comments change my mind or my thinking. But a lot of the media is eating itself already. Drudge is a good example. Pretty much just a reiteration machine. Where's the NEW wine! *staggers off to Dionysian temple, gets ravaged by Maenads*
