Who is Billie Anderson?

Who is Billie Anderson? Billie Anderson, the most beautiful girl in New Orleans, was making a nice living as a prostitute until she picked the wrong pocket when the pocket's owner was otherwise occupied. So she cut her hair and hit the road, eventually finding a partner in Rock, with whom she built up a thriving business in pool halls, rackets and transgendered whores. This is just the tip of the iceberg in the Billie Anderson Project, aka Jugtouch, an oral history.

This post was deleted for the following reason: should move to mefi projects

errr, does a business partner count as almost a self post?

I hope not. He gathered these tapes years before I met him, only just put them online, and they are entirely non-commercial. If the link seems inappropropriate, or should have gone onto the projects page, I apologize. I just think these unheard stories are worthy of note.

the post may or ay not be interesting, but a three link post to the same blog ranks low on my quality-post-o-meter

do you have something to back that up tula? I didn't notice anything glaringly obvious. (of course I'm pretty tired so might have missed it)

er, if you are involved in the creation of the place you linked to, it is a self link and should go on projects page. Flag it if so, and once it is deleted put it over there

edgeways, I have no, zero, zip involvement in the Billie Anderson/ Jugtouch project, which is why it did not occur to me to post it onto projects. I do work with the person who made the recordings that are its source, on other things. I am happy to move it to projects, though it is not my project, if this is going to be an issue that obscures the value of Billie, Rock and Bob Wells' stories. Is that something the original poster can do?

If it's not your project, or your webspace, or a project that links heavily to your webspace, or links heavily to you, or was already linked heavily FROM you, it's likely okay. There have been a rash of self-links from newish members lately, so if this project does not fit the self-link criteria, please accept our apologies and thanks for the link.

Regardless of where it ends up in this crazy ol' Metaverse and its (technically) singlepostedness, thank you Scram. Interesting stuff.

edgeways, etc., I'm not trying to cause trouble, really. scram's bio says, "With Richard Schave, I run Dumpling Feed, a new media consultancy devoted to helping artists use Web 2.0 tools for more powerful self promotion," this FFP goes to Richard Schave's site. The "self promotion" part got my attention. I'm not trying to make trouble, just trying to suss out the rules around here. I'm sorry if I called it wrong scram, truly.

Okay, the guy is your business partner and you are a publicity agent, this probably needs to go on MeFi Projects. Sorry all.
