PS, I wonder if they ate the whole thing or just selected books, like Leviticus for example. Or if they tore off strips and made a little light salad. I've heard the book of Deuteronomy makes good dippin'. Thank you, I'll be here all week.

"We did not find a list. We did find some references to a list, but there never was a list found. In light of the Columbine incident, anytime kids mention a list you have now gone beyond freedom of speech."

Strange, BUT TRUUUEEEEE FACT : Marilyn Manson's favorite tv program - The O'Reilly Factor, the ever so cute irish-smiling tv host himself. Weird, no?

"...two female MARILYN MANSON fans ate and defaced a school bible."

School bible? Isn't there something somewhere about the separation of church and state?

"...rumours of a hit-list containing threats of violence against selected students - including athletes, cheerleaders and blacks."

I wonder if there was a little spin placed on the contents of this list to vilify the alleged bible-eaters further by implicating them as racists as well as atheists.

"People started surrounding the lunch table telling us we were going to hell and we were bad, even though it's our choice to believe what we want to believe."

Which, in my opinion, is harassment based on religious affiliation, not to mention a violation of the school safe ordinance, and the creation of a near riot by whipping the rest of the kids into a frenzy and causing them to leave the school in droves. Hence those students, by the criteria of the very man expelling the Marilyn Manson fans, should be expelled at the least, and preferably taken in for a good thorough psychological evaluation.

School bible? Isn't there something somewhere about the separation of church and state?

If a school library was told not to have a copy of the bible would that be the same as telling them not to have a copy any other book?

If a school library was told not to have a copy of the bible would that be the same as telling them not to have a copy any other book?

That's a good point. I would expect any good library to have a Christian bible as well as other many other world religion texts.

I guess the term "school bible" (like "school mascot" or "school colors") made me think that the bible in question had an official place amid the traditional array of school related objects. In the case in the hall, right next to the tennis trophies and the alumni picture of 1982's Miss Toledo. You know, that kind of stuff.

Hrm. If they were really outrageous, they ould have smoked the bible. I know a few people that used to roll their on cigarettes, and for a while used Revelations for rolling paper.

If rumors are made about someone is it that person's fault? While it may be disorderly conduct, it seems there was no evidence that the incident or anything before created the rumors. (Beyond students making up the truth after witnessing the incident.) And as it has been pointed out why aren't the other students being reprimanded for harassment? Do I smell a lawsuit or what..

The same quote ("In light of the Columbine incident, anytime kids mention a list you have now gone beyond freedom of speech") jumped out at me for two reasons. First, the obviously disturbing idea that anything related to Columbine is automatically a threat. But more importantly, the fact that a school official can't handle common grammar.

Either way, I expect that the students who are expelled will appeal in court. Hopefully they win, although it sounds like the sort of place that isn't very sympathetic to godless atheists.

I never looked for it, but rumor has it that my high school had a copy of the Satanic Bible in their library.

Then again, I trust it would have been constantly "on loan", which is partly why I didn't bother searching for it.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were an "official" school bible intended for use at public events. Nowadays they mostly moulder in corners, of course, but such a thing used to be commonplace.
