Fun in the photo booth I don't usually post anything like this, but you might laugh a bit. Slightly NSFW at the end.

what is up with everyone using flash for video these days?
posted by delmoi at 7:23 PM on January 9, 2006

More importantly, what is up with that gitch?!?
posted by Alvy Ampersand at 7:27 PM on January 9, 2006

That was hilarious! I for one appreciate this post even if it isn't hip to enjoy the occasional Leno piece.

Thanks for the chortle.
posted by dangerousdan at 7:50 PM on January 9, 2006

I was expecting more mean-spirited high-jinks based on the set-up but it was refreshingly kind-hearted and still very funny. Thanks. And Leno is unhip and Flash video sucks, etc.
posted by TimeFactor at 7:57 PM on January 9, 2006

I can't believe that was funny. I mean, it was on the Tonight Show! This and "Lazy Sunday" (SNL being funny again?!) make me think there's something terribly wrong. Is the next sign of the apocalypse Bush making an intelligent decision?
posted by kyleg at 8:00 PM on January 9, 2006

That was considerably funnier than it had any right to be.
posted by Hogshead at 8:01 PM on January 9, 2006

I knew it was Leno but I was still terribly disappointed in the NFSW bit. (The rest was good though.)

I was not expecting that to be funny... moonbird pwn3d!

I agree with all posts + last guy was sexy and super awesome/adventurous.
posted by Lockeownzj00 at 8:08 PM on January 9, 2006

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised. The last guy seemed to be wearing unusual underwear.
posted by I Foody at 8:10 PM on January 9, 2006

That actually made me laugh. I don't remember laughing at Leno stuff for a while. Thanks!

You think they make them sign waivers before showing these?
posted by phyrewerx at 8:11 PM on January 9, 2006

That was a total ripoff of a British show called Trigger Happy.
posted by krunk at 8:13 PM on January 9, 2006

I don't recall seeing this setup on "Trigger Happy TV". It was funny.

Yeah, I shouldn't have clicked that link.

I can't believe they blurred out that guy's penis.
posted by shmegegge at 8:30 PM on January 9, 2006

a little quick with that international male link, ericb. you must keep your banana in a hammock.

either that or you're a romance novel cover artist.

Ha! I love the kids who 'broke' it best. What a great range of teenage bluster, stern reprimand and subsequent get-the-hell-out-of-here sentiment captured in a few seconds.
posted by Firas at 8:31 PM on January 9, 2006

Great stuff!

That was one heck of a family for that size room.

Shades of classic Candid Camera. Thanks, snsranch!

That was surprising pleasing for a Leno bit. What's wrong with flash video, anyway? Better than WMV, no?
posted by TonyRobots at 8:39 PM on January 9, 2006

Macromedia aggressively pushes flash video and it's started taking off by cnet, youtube etc but most importantly google video—it gets around the whole 'do you want real/quicktime/windows media' for 'dial-up/broadband/hi-speed' choice nonsense. I think macromedia was also trying to pwn acrobat reader with flash paper with the same tactic back in the day.

Must join the chorus: that's the first time I've laughed at a Leno bit in years...
posted by brundlefly at 9:02 PM on January 9, 2006

That was good! Thanks.
posted by Lynsey at 9:06 PM on January 9, 2006

great video, thanks, and it played seamlessly... but whats with the "save" button at the bottom? It just froze the video and said something like 'contacting...'

blf pwn4d too.

God that was funny. Leno's best bits are his 'man on the street type stuff'.

But yeah, his standup sucks.
posted by delmoi at 9:10 PM on January 9, 2006

wow, I hadn't laughed outloud at a Tonight Show bit for a long time till now. Good stuff.
posted by scody at 9:28 PM on January 9, 2006

Jay Leno's monologues are, without doubt, the lamest of the late night talk show hosts, but that's not saying much since the whole monologue joke segment thing has never been funny or worthwhile, period. More importantly though is that his "bits" are funnier than Letterman's (which haven't been good since Chris Elliot) and are even more consistent in quality than Conan (but the difference is that when Conan scores he scores big (e.g. Triumph at the Star Wars premiere).
posted by dgaicun at 9:31 PM on January 9, 2006

You know, it is so fashionable to take a shot at Jay Leno.
Look, the fact is the man is out there every bloody night with fresh material, and he's charming!

So, I clicked the link and saw it was Leno, and was all, "Eh." Then I read the comments and was convinced to watch. Totally funny. Kudos.

Americans are so thick.

(now just as long as they dont put one of these in my home town in the UK and film the people here falling for it; my statement will stand true)

(wait actually if a talking photobooth was offering free photos in my home time in the UK it would get "kelly woz ere" scrawled in marker pen on the lense within 10 minutes to be followed by being stolen and wheeled to Salford 10 minutes later to be joy ridden and later burnt out, minus its wheels)

(I guess my first statement is true)

good post btw.

Any Japanese speakers want to translate the monologue the guy launched into before saying "Cheese!"? At least I think that was Japanese.

It's no wonder it was funny that woman's voice sounded like one of the ladies from Girls Behaving Badly, Kira Soltanovich. She's incredibly quick and a fantastic ad-libber so there was no need for any lame-ass Leno writers to contribute -and ruin - the bit.

She is Ukrainian which is a plus but maybe an arbitrary preference.

Flash video is annoying because I would like to save a copy of this and I have no idea to (easily) go about it.

Intrestingly, in the Ukrane people are very quick with snarky insults to eachother. Like rather then politeness people make snarky jokes about eachother. At least, that's what my (very hot) Ukranian friend says.
