thanks for the email link holgate...but that wasn't nearly as juicy as i thought it would be. Millions? It is so weird to see the strange waves that email and the web create out in the real world.

"Millions" is an exaggeration. The reliable source who I received it from (with the note to scroll down for the name of the trainee lawyer I know personally) had apparently "gone round the City [of London] 50 times", and from the couple of hundred of names on the forwarding list -- all London law/media names, I can imagine that. Bradley Chait, a recently qualified solicitor at the firm Norton Rose, in the City, was sent an e-mail containing a joke about a sperm bank from an apparently close friend called Claire Swire. "Cute," Mr Chait replied innocently. Holgate this news story from Britain's Telegraph, syndicated to Australia's "The Age" contradicts the account as transcribed in the web page you gave us quite markedly. Maybe someone made the whole thing up!

murray: they've just updated the snopes page today (after I posted the link) to add information to it, and to change the status from "unconfirmed" to "true". And yes, it is quite true, as confirmed to me by the "honour bound" friend of mine.

c, when u want the word to get around it never does i say we circulate something and just see how far it goes: the yours was yum chronicles very shampoo commercial somehow clocking the speed of sperm is more reliable than resending a package from place to place to see how far around the world it gets ah, snail mail and the good old days...

I, and a couple of colleages got the forwarded mail, mine stopped being forwarded at me. It had been via NZ and Australia by the time it got to me in the UK. It's definitely true, I hope Bradley Chait got the sack, sadly he probably didn't.
