I love Ben Franklin. Seriously, the guy is an example of what is best with America. Inventive, talented, born into poverty and grows to become a great statesman, philanderer, dilettante, etc. etc.

As posted to Projects, by jefgodesky. No relation, I'm sure. Right?

Dunno, does that count as a self-link?

It's just a quote "special" Clusty search, anyway. So basically, it's a glorified Google search for Ben Franklin as an FPP. Weak.

Cynicfilter:

Cool resource, though. If a bit specific.

Franklin's a hero of every sane person.

Well, we ought to be careful not to canonize our founding fathers -- they were only too human. I mentioned this in a previous comment (see comment on 'The War on Franklin'), and I've put a little more meat on the bone about his relations with ethnic Germans around Philadelphia here. Hope people will take it in the good-natured vein in which it is intended.

He had a lot of good points, he was exceptionally talented and he fought for some important causes. But he could also show a thoughtless intolerance at times.

Again, I could be biased.

All 'bout the Benjamin.

Should we dig up some good Ben Franklin links to salvage this thing? Or just let it slide as yet another example of personal connection to a site getting in the way of ability to ascertain front-page-worthiness? Decisions, decisions...
