Cellfilms. Ithica College in New York is hosting the Cellflix Film Festival, and has asked students between 13 and 20 to submit 30-second movies shot entirely with their cell phones. They have narrowed down the nearly 200 entries they received to 10 finalists that can be found here. (My votes to the shadow puppets and the progression of life.)

iPodfest is something similar for shorts less than 10 minutes that are designed to be watched on Video iPods and other portable media players. The $15 entry fee includes video format conversion.

That Postal service commercial was so low-budget shitty that I thought it was one of the entries! 'Art is Everywhere' really was a beautiful little film. The escalator, the plane, the train and the music were all a simple and impressive combo. American Beauty anyone?

Great PR campaign. I wonder which handset maker is behind it. (I'm an alumnus of Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications) I don't think any cell phone providers are behind it. I think the communication school wanted to attract attention to itself, because it had been about 15 years since they were featured on Entertainment Tonight.
