http://www.vahdet.com.tr/filistin/foto/arsiv1/foto301.html Here is a turkish photographer's images of Palestine in its everyday violent nature. Building demolitions by Israeli army, shooting innocent kids by Israeli soldiers, missiles and bombings by a westernized modern army against underdeveloped colonized people, and the occasional suicide bombings by HAMAS supporters, they are well documented in this fascinating piece. Most north americans don't have access to images like these. it's great to look at this photo diary. even if you're an ardent Zionist, these pictures will cause a dent in your ideological certainty. To see all the pictures, change the njumber in the html file name (foto301.html) to 302.html and so forth until "foto406.html" theres 105 pages of thumbnails and pictures. enjoy.... well.

This post was deleted for the following reason: meh, front page editorializing plus a crappy photo site that barely works?

Let me see if I read you right. The Israeli's tear down houses and kill kids, but Hamas only occasionally lets a suicide bomber slip through? Is that how I should read this?

I think the point is that one shouldn't be all that surprised that Hamas did so well in the Palestinian elections.

Read it as you like. But look at it before you make up yourmind. There is not just one reading of history. Zionism and Americanism (our cute and well-to-do newly wed couple) increasingly resemble Stalinism everyday. Party lines, offical lines, politically correct notions and adherence to them is not my obsession. I am not going to tell you how you should read anything. Show some courage dude and read things for yourself! And more importantly, stop making up your mind about something you have not even seen yet.

I did see it, and you know you may want to take a trip to ogrish and check out the pix of the results of suicide bombers for yourself. Let me state that I do not agree to the degree that the Israelis respond to Hamas's suicide attacks. Let me also state that bombing a Starbucks is not the best way for Hamas to get their point across either.

A FPP is not an appropriate place for editorializing.

I don't care what your point of view, there's no ONE link about the Middle East that's going to be even remotely balanced by itself. That said, MeFi isn't a site about balanced reporting (since hey, it's not news). This site is about best of the web.

This site is (IMO) ugly. Green on white? It's also not in English, which would be ok if it had a navagation system I could figure out, but it doesn't. Just links to photos with no (apparent) reference to date or place taken.

Also, it seems to me to be a site filled with photos of protests, people yelling, buringing things in effigy. That makes my 'worst of the web' category. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to hear their arguments about why they're screaming, but that's not this site. This site is screaming and burning.

I'm choosing to ignore the editorializing in the FPP because those photos were so incredibly sobering and shocking.

While the photos are mostly of the Palestinians (at least of the 15 pages that I viewed), there are some on the Israeli side of the border as well, demonstrating what a horrific toll this conflict is taking on both peoples.
