Sweet, it'll be like Epcot Center! Seriously, though, did anybody really believe that Bush and the Republicans would fully fund the rebuilding of New Orleans? I'm not being cynical, snarky, or judgmental, nor am I sure who's to say whether and how much Federal aid should be provided to rebuild the city. But it's clear that Bush had and has no intention of making the rebuilding of the coast a priority. Good for Nagin for trying to be creative. Hopefully it gets his city a little money and a little press.

I'm surprised Bush didn't give real financial support to Nola if only for political gain--it looks like LA will be pretty blue at all levels for a long while now. I'm also reminded of Baltimore, a very poor and troubled city, applying for USAID funding about a decade ago--or is this an urban legend? Anyways, more power to Nagin--he's a fruit-loop, but his job is to get the city as much funding as possible right now.

Balisong - No, you're confusing them with Democrats. Republicans charge trillions of dollars to the nation's credit card and dole it out to Jack Abramoff's clients. Then, they are shocked! -SHOCKED- I tell you! that it's all disappeared! They run for office pointing out that government never does anything right, and that it needs to be made small enough to drown in the bathtub. And people fall for it - better that than those horrible, tax and spend Democrats. Nola - 2 trillion dollars?!? Gone! And still nothing working? Why, we're shocked! -SHOCKED- I tell you! You know, I'm just sad that so much rebuilding remains to be redone, and happy there are options beyond "wait for the government to help you" and "find some way to do it yourself."
