I just had a new thing---CompUSA--i was on hold for a person, finally spoke with them, they weren't helpful at all, and when i asked to speak to a manager they said they can only connect me to a manager's voicemail. I said that's not acceptable and they said there's nothing they can do. I said, please let me speak to someone else, and they said there is no one else. It was the very worst and unhelpful customer service experience i've had in quite a while--and needless to say, i won't be shopping there ever again.

I have a friend that works in a call centre for a major American wireless provider, and she constantly gets accused of being Chinese. She's not. She's Canadian and English is her first (and only) language, but people freak out at her about how it's terrible how they send those jobs overseas blahablahblah. She hates that.
If you're talking to someone you assume doesn't speak english as their first language, at least don't be a dick about it, because it's not their damn fault and they're just trying to do their job like everyone else.

I wish they had a listing for Royal Bank in Canada. None of the usual 0, *, # or combinations thereof worked. Even if you call a local branch you get forwarded to a national call centre that makes you enter your account number before you can do anything, including get a human. I guess they don't want new customers very badly.
